Wednesday.....
Outside of Hatemonger's gym pacing back and forth is Nanook with his cell phone glued to his ear....
"I am merely a concerned citizen here. I have to look out for my client and his well being AND his best interest here. Now like I have stated a few times not only today but yesterday and the day before. My client Joe Jones challenged the current UWL Television champion to a title match. Is it his fault that you went ahead and put on this silly Coronation Cup tournament? No it is not. He challenged the champion, Caleb Hart and they agreed to a match. A 2 out of 3 falls match and while it wasn't verbally said everyone just assumed that that match would be Caleb Hart's next title defense. I understand that sir and while I completely understand that you want and you almost have to have the UWL television champion at Destiny 7 defending his title since he is no longer in the Cup Tournament I am calling you to make sure that my client, in the event that Mr. Hart looses his UWL television championship, that my client will still receive his shot at the UWL television title as agreed upon in the contract he signed for his 2 out of 3 falls match against Caleb Hart. That match Sir, that match IS stated in the contract a title match for the UWL television title."
Nanook stops and listens to someone from the UWL offices on the other end of the phone. Nanook has been working on this ever since Sunday, making sure no matter what happens his friend Joe Jones still gets his shot at the TV title.
"Well clearly like I said, If Caleb Hart, the self coined God's gift to wrestling can defeat Salmon Van Damn and retain his UWL television title than this is a mute point, but I....I have to do what is best for my client and I have to make sure......."
Nanook has to pause as the person on the other end of the line is getting annoyed and they vent a little bit.
"Sir. I am sure someone like yourself can understand where I am coming from. You better than anyone knows how this business works and just how cut throat and cruel of a business this can be. My client is busy training, working hard preparing himself not only for his tie breaker against Xplode, but preparing himself to face Aries Reed, preparing himself to not only beat Xplode and Mr. Reed but to beat who ever he meets in the finals. He doesn't have time this week Sir, to worry and discuss his UWL TV title match. This week Sir my client has as they say, bigger fish to fry."
4 days of non stop phone calls and pestering might have just paid off as Nanook gets some good news. His face lights up and he forms a fist with his free hand and pumps his fist into his side like he just got a big win.
"Oh very good Sir. Yes that will work. But can I just ask small favor Sir. Can I get that in writing?"
There is a pause and then the smile on Nanook's face slowly melts away.
"I don't think that is too much to ask for......what about Wolf Parker. Who was talking about Wolf Parker? Clearly I wasn't. What......what do you mean? No wait........I don't think that is a good idea and I will tell you why....."
TBC.
Scene opens up with Double J Joe Jones standing inside his gym after another grueling workout. His sweat shirt is soaked through and as Joe starts to unwrap his wrist he glances at the camera.
"This is the week that everyone has had circled on their calendar ever since the UWL announced the start of the Coronation Cup. Everyone who was in the tournament had this week marked, as the day that their name is etched in the history books when they win the Cup.....it was a fantasy for most and now, almost 2 months later it is reality. Robb Daniels and Jason Michaels have all but had their name engraved in the cup for they think they will be the chosen one who gets to lift the cup over their head as they are declared the winner."
As Joe is slowly unwrapping his wrist he smirks.
"The problem is thou, they are wrong. This tournament is meant to challenge you. To push you harder than you have ever been pushed. It is designed to break you. To even make it to the semi finals you will have dig deep and search for that little something extra. That little something that you didn't know you had.....and when you look at each Block. Jason Michaels, he didn't have to dig down and search for the reason why he wants to win more than anything else. He wasn't pushed hard at all. He had one match.....one challenging match and by the time he got to that match, he had his spot in the semi's pretty well locked up. For Jason to even think he went through the best the UWL has to offer on his road to the cup is pretty damn laughable."
Joe shakes his head just thinking about how easy Jason had it in the tournament.
"Then there is Robb Daniels. Until he had a match against Jacob Davies I didn't even know he was in the tournament. That's how under the radar his block was. No one was talking about. No one was going that is a grueling block. Daniels might have had a easier path to the semi's than Michaels and that is just hard to imagine that something like that could happen in the Coronation Cup tournament. I mean this was suppose to put the best of the best in this thing. Some how Daniels's block just didn't measure up."
Joe finishes unwrapping his one wrist.
"It's about time you two finally get to face some tough competition before you get to the finals. And this brings me to Aries Reed. His block was so so. He was pushed some but not allot. Here he is week of Destiny 7 just sitting back and waiting because he's not sure who he will face. Is it Xplode? Not if I have anything to say about that. Will it be me? I do hope so. Reed finds himself not really being able to prepare himself for his semi final match like Daniels and Michaels can. He has to first watch and see who wins between Xplode and I. Who will be the winner of Block B? The hardest and toughest block of them all. Yeah I said it. No one in this tournament has been pushed harder than Xplode and I. No one had their block so stacked that you only had one week in which you could consider that a off week."
Joe takes a sip of water.
"My road to the cup.....started off with one tough opponent. Troy Vincent. A guy who defeated me just a mere week prior. Right from the get go I had to dig deep. I had to find a way to beat Troy Vincent. A guy no one gave me any sort of shot in beating. Not only did I beat him, I made him tap. Then next week, I get Xplode. No one in this tournament had back to back weeks of former World Champions. No one got matches against two guys who both were on long winning streaks. That match against Xplode pushed me to the edge and in the end, in that match, my best just wasn't good enough. I didn't lose, but I didn't win. Then the UWL decided to punch me in the gut one more time. I get Alex Kharne. Once I put Kharne on his back that when the voices in the back that I might be the guy to watch this weekend got a little louder. Hell all I have to do is beat Xplode, and you Reed."
Joe starts to unwrap his other wrist.
"Saturday night at Destiny 7, To get to the finals I will have reach deep inside. I will have to do something I haven't been able to do before. Defeat Xplode. Then turn around and take out Reed. I know, some of you are thinking, Yeah good luck Joe, you will need it! But I don't see it that way. The way I see it. It will only make my winning of the cup all that much sweeter. That much impressive. I'm not looking at Xplode thinking F***, this night is going to suck. I'm rubbing my hands together. I'm going to put together 3 matches the UWL has never seen before. I will in one night take down Xplode. Aries Reed. And either Daniels or Michaels. I made a vow when this tournament started to make sure no one else won it. I want to piss off everyone in the UWL by ruining everyone's fantasy and dreams and hopes of being the 2013 Cup winner. This week. I will make good on those words. While Daniels, Michaels and Reed all look at the cup with it being the one thing that will make them a house hold name in the UWL....for me. That cup you all hold near and dear to your heart, will be a footnote in my career......and heart ache forever in your hearts when I'm walking out of the building with that cup tucked under my arm. God I love the playing the spoiler role."
Joe snickers as the scene fades to black.
