Scene opens up with Double J inside his gym just hanging out. He's slowly walking around the ring checking his phone when he snickers.
"The UWL updated it's rankings the other day. While most of the guys in the locker room glance at them and shrug and move along, some guys might debate them. They might question if Drew Stevenson should be ranked higher than Justin Brooks and if Caleb Hart should really be ranked higher than Frankie Cocheese. It's a matter of opinion really. The rankings are more for the fans that follow the UWL than it is for us. I mean, don't get me wrong it's nice to know that all my hard work that I have put into the UWL is "rewarded" with being ranked in the top 10, but I honestly couldn't tell you were I was ranked in the last months rankings. But I do know one thing. If I was going to tweet about it.....the one thing I would make sure of is where I am ranked. Case in point. My opponent this week. Silas Brueck tweeted that's he's ranked 5th in the UWL."
Joe stops his slow stroll around the ring.
"Quote "Ranked #5 in U.W.L. Not to shabby." unquote. Oh Silas Silas Silas. Much like what goes on inside the ring, the devil is in the details and you Silas, didn't look at the rankings very well. You either can't read or you've been dropped on your head one too many times and you can't comprehend what you're seeing. Frankie Cocheese......former UWL World champion and the best drinking buddy you can ever have, is ranked 5th."
Joe makes a face and glances at the camera and then back at his cell phone.
"Awkward. I want to tweet but what would do that? Everyone who saw the rankings and then saw what you posted probably all had a good laugh. It's like you Silas to make yourself seem more important than you really are. I mean, I could really be a asshole right here."
Joe debates in his head if he should rip out a tweet but in the end thinks better of it.
"Ah hell. I'll leave it alone. I mean I don't want to pile on. You're going to have a real tough Saturday night going up against me. You'll realize real quick that you're out classed, out matched and worst of all, 2 minutes into the match you'll learn that you simply ran out of talent. Ah I know, It sucks when that happens but there is a reason why you and I, never crossed paths till now. It's because you were never just good enough. Hell you're still not good enough."
Joe looks up and crosses his arms. Walking into the picture is Kip Anderson.
"Speaking of not being good enough. NANOOK! WHY YOU LET THIS GUY IN HUH?"
Kip "You throw a steak in front of that guy and you could rob this place blind, but after seeing what you have here. You wouldn't be out very much."
JJ "This is stuff is like me, tested tried and true."
Joe slaps the ring apron and a cloud of dirt and dust fills the air where he slapped the mat. Joe waves it away from him and coughs.
Kip "I will give you this. It has been around for a while much like you. I heard a tale that you and Silas Brueck used to work for the same company once upon a time."
JJ "And?"
Kip "I'm a guy who likes stories like that."
JJ "And?"
Kip "I would like to hear more about this."
JJ "And?"
Kip "And.....I was hoping you could tell us a story or two."
JJ "I would Kip, if there was a story. What do you want? The story why this guy really called himself The Moose? Because he was hung like a moose. You know Silas faced The Moose once."
Kip "That's it?"
JJ "How about the tale of Pyro, who at one time was a firefighter who was deathly afraid of getting burned alive and hence why he's no longer a firefighter."
Kip "Wow. That's really not the story I was hoping for."
JJ "Well here is a story Kip. The story of how Silas who has watched all my matches, followed my career is about to get schooled in the ring. If he thought last week was rough, losing a shot at the UWL TV title, then this week they will have to put this guy on suicide watch. Last week might have been viewed as his biggest match in the UWL, but this week, this week will be the test that will define his time here in the UWL and sadly, he will fail this test. It's my time here in the UWL. My time to shine. My time to capture some gold and some guy, a troll like Brueck.....isn't going to get in my way. Now if you excuse me. I've got some work to do."
Joe turns and walks away leaving Kip with pen and pad of paper in his hand with nothing to write down.
Kip "This story stinks."
Fade to black.
