Mine…..in case you haven’t heard.
Barry Burton “Well there isn’t really much left saving inside here. I’ll have a crew come by later to clean out the place and fix the door, windows. Make it look like it’s old self again. I know Nanook is worried sick about Billy. Hopefully I can find him. If you do see him though.”
Barry hands Jennifer one of his cards.
Barry Burton “Please call me and if you could, don’t hurt him too badly.” Smiles.
Jennifer smiles as well as she takes Barry’s card.
Jennifer “I can’t promise you anything but if I see him, I’ll call you.”
Barry Burton “Thank you. Oh! And it’s nice meeting you.”
Across the road is a wooded area. It’s mostly a little swampy and drops down a tad from the edge of the road which explains why no one has built on it. Sitting a couple of yards back from the road watching everything going on dressed head to toe in camo and holding his shotgun is Nascar Billy. He’s sitting in the brush and is well camouflage that you could be looking into the wooded area and not see him. He watches Barry Burton climb into his Jeep CJ and drive off. Billy meet Barry once, two years ago. Thought nothing of him then other than he made a terrible interviewer. Now Barry is looking for him and he’s not sure why.
As Barry drives off Jennifer hangs around some more and pulls out her cell phone and dials someone. Billy clicks the safety off of shotgun.
Billy "Mine….”
Fade out.
Jennifer “Jessica? Oh my god! You’ll never believe what just happened! I was parked down the road like you asked me too and this really big guy pulled up and started to look around. Yes! This big fat bald guy. You should have seen me…..”
As Jennifer yaps to Jessica about what just happen and poke fun at Barry which should be a given, Billy sits in the woods listening to to what Jennifer is saying and as long as their isn’t any traffic going by Billy can almost make out what she is saying as she is a rather loud talker. He’s not getting everything she is saying but knows that she will be hanging around by the sounds of it and in his mind, she has to go and he needs to give her a reason to go.
As Jennifer paces on the porch Billy glances at his 12 gauge double barrel in his right hand. Billy braces the end stock up against this flat stone on the ground in front of him. He points the end of the shot gun up in the air and squeezes the trigger.
Jennifer Now Barry says he’s going to send some guys over to…..”
Jennifer ducks and turns ghost white. We can hear Jessica on the other end of the phone.
Jessica “Jenn? Jenn? What was that? Are you okay?”
Jennifer puts the phone back to her ear and you can clearly see she is shaken up.
Jennifer “I think someone just shot at me!!!!”
Jessica “WHAT? JENN!!! GET OUT OF THERE!”
Billy is watching Jennifer almost piss her pants but she isn’t leaving. You know what that means.
Jessica “JENN!!! RUN!!!!!!”
Jennifer sprints to her car and dives into it and she may have pee’d a little. She lights the engine up, backs out of the drive away without looking behind her, drops it into D and punches it. With the tires squealing and crying for mercy she speeds off. As soon as she speeds away Billy stands up and quickly moves to the edge of the road. Dressed in head to toe camo with face paint, Billy looks down the road to make sure Jennifer is gone and he checks the other way to make sure no one is coming. The ghost is clear and Billy charges across the road, up the front lawn and past the house towards the garage, he slams himself up against the side of the garage incase someone is back there with a gun of their own, this is Tennessee you know. He checks, double checks and runs towards his camper.
His camper that he has called home since he arrived in the UWL has been overturned and is resting on it’s side. It took a beating and looks like a total lost. Some of his clothes are scattered all over the place. Billy rushes up to his camper, looks behind it quick and no one is in sight. He sets his shot gun down and hops up on the top of the camper, which used to be the side of it with the door. Billy kneels down and flips open the door to his camper and hops down inside of it.
Off in the distance we can hear the faint sound of sirens. Several of them and they are getting louder and louder ever so slowly. Billy pokes his head up through the door of the camper and holds something up in his hand and has a smile on his face. He climbs up out of the camper and sits on it for a second and looks at what ever it is in his hand.
The sirens are getting louder now, Billy looks towards the direction the sirens are coming from and opens his hand up to reveal what he has in his hand, which is a gold pocket watch.
Billy holds the pocket watch up to his ear like he is listening to it and nods.
"Mine……”
We hear tires screeching and the sirens are really really loud. Billy rolls off the back of the camper and drops down to the ground. Before jumping up and making his getaway he holds the pocket watch to his ear again.
"Mine……”
And then Billy runs for the hills.
