Flashback 2. The driver of the Mobile Command Center is seated in the driver’s seat.
She has the engine all warmed up, ready to active the D drive.
She is looking, hoping, praying to catch a glimpse of her teammates…
7800 and 2600.
She is fighting back the tears after a huge defeat at the battle of the MGM.
Their life’s work, just might have ended here tonight.
The Yamauchi’s…..
They have delivered a huge blow to the national security of this nation.

The war for the Energon Devise…..

What Team Atari craves more than anything in this world.
What the PTB have made obtaining the Energon Devise, their number one objective.

Flashback 2 remembers sitting in the Dig Dug with Nolan, Jack, Ted, JT and Dabney with Bushnell on Lynx speaker, as they laid out the plan, outlined the war for the Energon Devise and where each and every Battle of Pong would take place.

Flashback 2 remembers how her hair was pulled back in a ponytail, revealing the nape of her neck and how 2600 could not stop glancing over and looking at her. She remembers how that made her feel, how, special she felt that day. She purposely didn’t zip her ATARI battlesuit all the way up, leaving her collarbone visible. 2600….had a hard time keeping focus that day as Dabney told them point blank that you secure those Energon Devices by any means necessary even if death of one or both them is on the table.

Flashback 2 has her orders. She has the fate of the mission in her hands….
Her hand hovers above the D drive button.
She every so slightly taps the engagement pedal, bring the RPM’s up some and allowing them to fall back to an idol.
She will leave if she must.
She fears the worst for her brothers of war.

Right now, the evil Yamauchi’s could have them tied up, slowly removing their toenails, fingernails, cutting off their ears and forcing them to speak, to give up the intell that will destroy not only their mission, but send the world into chaos and will lead to world war 3.

“Come on guys….please….show me something.” Flashback 2 says out loud.

Time is up.

Then, a sight that makes her weep.

Team Atari is walking out of the MGM Grand with their heads hung low.

Tonight, they tasted the bitter spoils of defeat. Yamauchi, all 3 of them. Bested them.
Maki Yamauchi…..she has claimed victory in the battle of the MGM Grand. The battle is hers.
Team Atari...was forced to retreat.

A major setback.

The PTB, they will not be happy about this.

Flashback 2 spots them in just the nick of time! She smiles, a joyous, OMG you have no idea how happy I am to see you right now cuz I feared the worst smile. Tears stream down her freckle kissed cheeks. She engages the D Drive, pushes the engagement pedal and quickly speeds towards them. It is now, officially a rescue mission.

As she directs the MCC towards her boys, yes her boys, her guys. Her brother at arms, where if she had to, she would give her life for them. She would throw herself at the mercy of their enemies to save them, even if unspeakable acts would be performed on her. They are, her brothers.

As she pulls up to 2600 and 7800, she uses the back of her sleeve to wipe the tears from her face.

Slamming on the anchor pedal, she slaps the P button and quickly hops out of the seat and towards the side door. She swings open the door and leaps into 2600’s arms, catching him off guard.

“Oh my god! I was so worried!”

“Dilly…..” a sad sounding 7800 says.

“You should have left Flashback 2. Per procedure, we were late getting back to MCC. You might have comprised this mission.” 2600, always by the book says.

“I know. You will have to recommend me for a Stinkor 5250”

2600 looks into Flashback 2 eyes. Deep down, okay not that deep down he is happy, so happy that she didn’t leave. The last act of retreat that he and 7800 would want to execute is Eternia Mode. A last ditch hope to evade the Yamauchi’s by removing their Team A.T.A.R.I battlesuits and blend in with the local civilians and hopefully, God willing, not get captured. Eternia Mode, the act of removing the battlesuit, is permanent. Death without dying. And for that, tonight at the conclusion of the Battle of the MGM, 2600 is forever grateful Flashback 2 disobeyed a direct order.

“Perhaps, Flashback 2. Your time keeping device was running a tad fast?” 2600 suggests.

Flashback 2 tries to hide her smile, but some of it escapes, her dimples give it away. “Perhaps, I better get that checked 2600. It could use some…….tweaking.”

“Oh?”

“Dilly dilly dilly….dilly!”

Flashback 2 and 2600 eyes get wide.

“You will get a Stinkor 5250 7800!!!! No such language will be used on the MCC!”

“DILLY!”

“7800!!!! THAT’S 2 STINKOR 5250S! I swear. Flashback 2, I am sorry you have to hear such foul language.”

“Well, it is understandable considering what happened tonight.” She says.

“Yes but that is no excuse for such…..”

“2600. We must leave. We are still in great danger. The Yamauchi’s smell blood in the water.” Flashback 2 says to change the subject.

“Flashback 2, you are correct. Time to engage the D drive!”

“Yes sir!”

She quickly hops into the MCC and as 2600 is about to climb aboard himself, his Lynx sound off. He retrieves it from his pocket and flips it open.

“Message from the PTB….” 2600 says as he quickly reads the message. His jaw drops. He can’t believe what he is reading. He is so excited he leaps in the MCC.

“GUYS! AT THE BATTLE OF HOLLYWOOD! WE GO TO WAR FOR THE ENERGON DEVISE! THE ENERGON DEVISE, 7800!!!! THIS IS IT!”

Silence from the MCC as 7800 and Flashback 2 must be in shock as well.

“Dilly….Dilly Dilly, Dilly!”

“7800! You are correct!”

Fade out.

Dig Dug. Team A.T.A.R.I. headquarters.
Inside the “Grid”

Jack, with his bleeding ulcer that just might burst on him is standing, nervously looking up at the screen in the control room of Dig Dug, the room called the Grid. Here the mission for the Energon Device is plotted, planned and executed. It was all running smooth till just the other day….

Jack “GOD DAMN! DAMN IT ALL TO HELL! ABORT! ABORT!”

JT “What are you talking about?” JT says who just swiped his key card and entered the Grid. He’s well aware of what happened at the Battle of MGM.

Jack “Nice to finally see you JT! How was the vacation? How is Barbados this time of the year?”

JT stops as the door slides closed behind him. He crosses his arms.

JT “I’d imagine Jack, it’s quiet nice this time of the year. I was in [Classified]. My grandmother passed away.”

Jack “Oh…..I’m sorry to hear that.”

JT “Well that is what’s happen when you’re 110 years old and fall and break your hip. Of course....”

JT, who is a fitness nut. A model of what a healthy human being should look like. He looks at Jack who is a guy nearing retirement, and his smoking and drinking, plus stress is catching up with him.

JT “You’ll never know that.”

Jack “Gee! Thanks! You prick.”

JT “Now what was all this screaming? Nolan sent me a text telling me to be here right now. What is going on?”

Jack “We’re pulling the plug. That’s it! It’s over. Time to pull those 3 out of there before they get killed. The war is over with. We’re not getting the Energon Devise. No world peace. The security of the nation has been compromised. We’re all fucked!”

JT “Seriously?”

The door slides open and stepping into the Grid is Nolan himself with a file folder in hand. JT turns and greets Nolan with a hand shake.

JT “Nolan.”

Nolan “Gentlemen! Sorry about your Grandmother JT. She was a inspiration to us all.”

JT “Thanks Nolan. That means allot to me. She was very special to me. Now, back to business. Jack was saying that Codename Pong is over?”

Nolan “In a matter of speak.”

Jack shakes his head, he holds himself up with one hand on the control panel looking like his whole world has just ended.

Jack “Oh I knew it! Shit on a single, Christ all mighty. I knew it! We’re doomed.”

JT “Wait? So you didn’t know?”

Nolan “Jack! For christ sake man! Pull yourself together. We’re far from done.”

Jack “WHAT! Are you mad! They lost the battle of the MGM! Their lucky they got alive!”

Nolan “A minor setback.”

Jack “MINOR! Did you not see what I saw?”

Nolan “The battle of the MGM, was, unfortunate. Clearly we would have liked a outcome in which 2600 and 7800 were victorious, a outcome in which the Team Atari flag can be hoisted and flown over the location that is Las Vegas. But as it turned out. That was not the case.”

Jack’s face is turning white, pale white. Nolan hands JT the file folder.

Nolan “Dabney….”

Jack “Fucking Dabney….”

Nolan “And Bushnell have pushed all the chips to the center of the table.”

Jack “Oh lord….”

Nolan “As luck would have it gentlemen. 2600 and 7800 have a chance to capture the Energon Devise at the Battle of Hollywood on April 30th.”

Jack and JT “What?”

Nolan “This is what we have wanted gentlemen. A opportunity to capture the E.D. To secure the future of the nation. To bring about peace, and to make sure that the greatest nation on earth has the power. As Prince Adam once said, soon, we will have the power. In that file is everything we known on Yamauchi Kross. Her weakness. Her Strengths. Everything. If she farted in a Korean sushi bar, we know about it.”

Jack “Holy hell…” Jack says as he stands up straight.

Nolan “We are moving on to phase 3 gentlemen. This is it. Everything we have worked for, happens on April 30th. That is why right now Ted is getting Tos to Hollywood.”

JT “Tos?”

Jack “Jesus mother Mary. Tos?”

Nolan “Dabney and Bushnell, They have more faith in 2600 and 7800 then everyone in this building combined. Tos, he’ll get those two lasered focused. He was born for this.”

Jack “With Tos. We can’t lose. We’ll take the Battle of Hollywood and the Energon Devise for sure.”

Nolan “Let’s hope so. Gentlemen.”

Nolan turns and exits the Grid as JT and Jack stare at one another, shocked that Tos is on his way to Hollywood…….

7800 steps off of the MCC very early in the morning. The sun is just starting to pop up over the mountains and 7800 has always been early to rise type of fella. As to not wake anyone else in the sleeping quarters, the “recondition chambers”, and to answer the call of nature, 7800 heads on outside for the morning water of the bushes.

7800 searches for the right bush to mark. He has many to choose from where they parked the MCC for the night. After a quick search, 7800 has found just the right bush. A lush, full southern magnolia in peak bloom. As he, “pays the water bill” 7800 closes his eyes and tilts his back just a tad. Oh there is nothing like a good piss in the morning. Once the bill has been paid, he zips up…..

A hand suddenly covers his mouth and 7800 disappears from sight. No sounds, no struggles. Gone….
Vanished…
Without a trace.

Roughly an hour later…….

2600’s alarm sounds and he crawls out of his recondition chamber from the sleeping quarters on the MCC. Already in his battle suit, 2600 stretches quick. Bends down, touches his toes, squat thrust, twists from side to side. Reaches for the sky, holds, a little twist and he is ready to go. The recondition chambers has sliding doors on them and as 2600 slides his shut, he lightly taps on the chamber above him which just happens to be Flashback 2’s. Yes, Flashback 2 is a on top type of gal, but I’m thinking 2600 hasn’t figured that out yet.

“Flashback 2…..” 2600 says into the door not daring to slide it open. “It’s time to rise and shine….”

2600 looks around the tiny sleeping compartment and spins around quickly and slides the top bunk open, 7800’s bunk and it’s empty. He slides the door back shut and leans in very close Flashback 2’s door.

“ pumpkin

.” 2600 says with a smile on his face. He says it just barely above a whisper as this sort of thing is strictly forbidden. No dating or physical relations between crew members allowed. Not that this sort of, relationship 2600 and Flashback 2 has is very physical, just a slight touch of hands when reaching for a pen, paper clip, radio knob at the same time, little innocent “oops” between the two. Truth be told, 7800 wouldn’t care if they, as Marvin Gaye sang, “Got it on.” But then again he the rule break from the group.

“I’ll see you outside. For our morning run and cardio training.” 2600 says just hoping Flashback 2 would slide open her door a bit. She does not and 2600 heads on out.

2 minutes later…..

Flashback 2 slowly slides her door open to her recondition chamber. She pokes her head out. Her long red hair has a serious case of bed head going on but, you know, she looks cute still. She glances towards the door of the sleeping quarters.

“26?” She calls out, her little nickname for 2600. “You there?”

If he was, he would answer, not because he has a thing for her, but because that is just who he is. Someone calls for him, he answers. He doesn’t answer therefore he is not within earshot of the quarters and she is all alone on the MCC. She hops out of her bunk wearing volleyball shorts and a matching sports bra, NOT department issued gear, a huge violation of policy. Flashback 2 lifts the shoulder straps of the sports bra, Nike brand if you wondering, the swoosh gives that away, and gets the girls where they should be. She then slides the door open to the bathroom and in a way, it’s her own personal bathroom as both 2600 and 7800 refuse to use it. They would rather piss on trees and bushes like men god damn it!

A couple of minutes later…..

Flashback 2 emerges from the bathroom looking a little more awake and cleaned up. She has gathered her red hair and pulled that up in a ponytail and as she makes her way back to her recondition chamber, to get her battle suit on, a blanket is flung over her.

“WHAT THE?” She calls out. A figure in a flash, scoops her up and throws her over his shoulder. Flashback 2 tries to fight back but it is of no use

Another couple minutes later…..

7800 and 2600 are hogged tied and have hoods over their faces as they lay on the ground next to each other. They are tied up real good, there is no getting free. Soon Flashback 2 joins them as she tossed on top of them while still wrapped up in the blanket. She quickly pulls the blanket off of her head and the first thing she see is her boys all tied up.

“What the?”

“Flashback 2?”

“Dilly?”

“Oh my god 2600!” She says and then she looks up to see who has done this.

“Tos?” She says in disbelief.

“I should have known!” 2600 says.

“That’s right sweet cheeks! The man, the myth, the guy who is going to wipe your lazy out of uniform asses into shape!” Tos says.

“What are you talking about? I’m in my battle suit.” 2600 says as he looks up at Tos even though he still has his face covered by the hood.

“Yeah, not all of you are battle ready. Good ahead Red. Pull those covers off, untie them and let’s get this shit storm going.” Tos demands.

“Uhmm...can I get my bat…”

“No you can not! You want to drive around the countryside half naked, tossing your battle suit aside, then you get to go through a 4 course Tos beating in what you feel is all you need!” Tos barks.

Flashback 2 lowers her head. She is for a long day and she knows it. She takes a deep breath.

“Flashback 2?” 2600 says. “What is he talking about? Are you not in your battle suit? You know I will have to marked this on my report. You know that is a Stinkor 5250.”

Flashback 2 puts her hand on 2600’s hood and slowly removes it.

“Yeah lose the blanket Steven and hurry up. Daylight is burning!” barks Tos.

She loses the blanket and 2600 can’t believe what he sees. His heart starts racing, his face turns red, not from anger mind you. Flashback 2 unties 2600 and then 7800. Once untied, they stand up and fall in line. 2600 looking directly down at the ground. 7800 looks, he’s the pervert of the group.

“Dilly.” he says.

“Yeah yeah you dipshits! Listen here maggots! The PTB have sent me here to this god forsaken place to get you sorry sacks in shape and ready for the biggest battle in your lives! Now I don’t care whatcha wearin, how you feel, or if you even took your morning shit! For the next 14 hours, I own your asses! So suck it up you bunch of pussies! Under my command, you are not going to lose the battle of Hollywood! You will come home with the Energon Devise!”

“Yes sir!” 2600 says.

“What was that Debbie?”

“YES SIR!”

“Then look in the eyes like a goddamn man Jennifer!” Tos barks.

2600 looks at Tos. He is never one to disobey a order or quit, even if death is on the line.

Tos walks up to the 3 of them. “You have grown soft over the past month. I am so disappointed in you three Care Bear rejects that I might just have to kill myself to spare me and everyone back at Dig Dug the sorrow and regret you have inflicted on us! That is how you make feel and I hate fucking feeling anything! So you know what today is?”

“Dilly Dilly.”

Tos steps directly in front of 7800 and stares a hole right through him.

“You bunch of bitches think that we’re playing dodge ball here today do ya?”

“No sir!” 2600 shouts.

“Oh I think you do! Well them….”

Tos pulls out a handgun. Relax, it’s a high powered paint gun. No need to get all, protestey on me. He cocks it and shoots Flashback 2 in the thigh, her bare thigh and it instantly welts up. To her credit she doesn’t flinch or cry and you know that shit hurt like hell.

“I betcha you wish you were wearing your battle suit huh? Craig.” Tos says as he glares right at Flashback 2. He then looks at 2600 and 7800.

“Well you dumb broads better start running or I’ll shoot you right here! Jesus Fuck! Are ya stupid or what?” Tos says and shots 7800 right in the shoulder. Close range too. Even through the suit it has to hurt.

With that they run like hell. Tos looks at his watch, waits like 3 seconds and smirks.

“TIME TO GO HUNTING!”

14 hours later…….

A nice campfire is going. Tos is making some BBQ chicken. He is so happy with himself. Singing, dancing, having a grand old time.

Team ATARI and Flashback 2, are in a heap on the ground, looking like they were run into the ground. All dirty, suits tore up, cuts, bruises, a starburst of color from being shot 100’s of times.

But they have completed their training today. Tos has ground them down into the ground and built them back up. They are now ready for the Battle of Hollywood.
They are ready to bring home the Energon Devise.
They are ready to go to war against Yamauchi Kross.
