Back in Knoxville......
Inside of Hatemonger's make shift gym for Joe, Double J stands in the changing room, which is nothing more than a old storage room back in the day when the small warehouse ran as a "As Seen On TV.." distribution center when such a thing was a small time business and not the big dollar empire it is today. Hatemonger found some old beat up lockers and put them in the room along with a old couch and found some guy who was redoing his bathroom and took the medicine cabinet and hung it on the wall. Double J is standing in front of the mirror and is taping his wrists up with tape for his workout.
Joe closes his eyes and the image of Xplode pinning Troy Vincent at the TV tapings is stuck in Joe's mind. As Joe opens his eyes as he finishes taping up his left wrist. He starts to tape his right wrist.
When Xplode pinned Troy, Joe's road to the Coronation cup just got harder. He knew that draw a month ago, the time limit expiring against Xplode would come back to haunt him. And it comes back to haunt him at Destiny VII. While Aries Reed gets to sit back in the back and wonder who he gets to face in the semi finals, he also gets to see the two guys he could face, beat the hell out of each other until there is a clear cut winner. The odds to win the cup suddenly got bigger. While from the start winning the cup hasn't been the main goal of Joe's, deep down he feels that since he has come this far, winning it would feel like he has accomplished something in the UWL seeing that everyone seems to be moving in on his UWL TV title shot. The Cup has gotten in the way of that, Double J had everything lined up, he called out the TV Champ, got under his skin, made it personal and got Hart to grant him a match. But with Block matches, Wolf Parker sticking his nose in there Joe can see his title match slipping away from him. It's making him slightly annoyed. Angered.
When the Coronation Cup started, Joe just wanted to ruin other people's chances at winning it. He didn't care about the cup. He was focused on Hart and the TV title, and the title match he now feels he will never get. He's now has a chance to win the cup. But first he has to finish up his Block B tournament round......and ruin someone's else's hopes and dreams of winning the cup........
Nanook is on the case.....
It's hours after the TV tapings and Nanook is finally leaving and as he makes his way towards his rental he check his phone when he gets a message that causes him to pause.
"Are you kidding me?"
On his phone is word that Salman Van Damn is getting a shot at the UWL TV title next week at Destiny VII.
"How can this be?" Nanook says to himself getting himself all worked up over the fact that Joe isn't getting the next shot at the TV title. Nanook is about to fire off text after text towards management about how SVD has no right to get a shot at the TV title but Nanook stops himself.
"No, no, no.....that is what got me fired the first time. What is important is that Joe gets the match with Hart, title or no title not that I see Salman beating Hart but you never know, crazier things have happened. That is the match Joe wanted. He wanted that match against Hart. I will make sure that he will get that match and if SVD does some how win the title, then I will make sure SVD defends that TV title against Joe. I need to make sure that this is my problem and not Joe's problem this week."
Joe taps on his screen of his phone and holds the phone up to record a message to himself, a reminder.
"Reassure Joe that I am on top of the TV title situation and to not worry about it. Match against Hart will happen if he wishes it. Check on how he feels about SVD getting shot. Go from there."
Nanook unlocks his rental and climbs inside of it and starts it up and drives off.......
Back in Knoxville continued......
Double J finishes wrapping up his right wrist and he tosses the tape onto the floor. Joe flexes his hands and forms 2 fists. He lowers his head and closes his eyes. He slowly raises his 2 fists up so they are level with his temples. He is still as he says a quick prayer. He raises his head and opens his eyes and looks into the mirror. The couple days will lead up to one of the biggest nights in his career. He hasn't had a night that has the potentially of being this big since 2007 in Philadelphia.
"Let's do this!" Joe says as he turns and makes his way towards the gym to get in a work out. He walks in front of his locker he pauses, and takes a marker from his locker and writes something on his tape on his left wrist, then tosses the marker in his locker and makes his out to the gym...................
Scene opens up hours later and Joe Jones is standing behind the weight bench guzzling down water after a hard work out in which Hatemonger pushed him hard than before. He finishes off the bottle of water and wipes his face with a towel.
"So here we are Xplode. The draw that just keeps on giving and giving. A month ago you and I stood in the ring and went toe to toe for 30 minutes with neither of us able to best each other. That lone point we got left us tied and this week at Destiny VII, we will settle the tie breaker."
Joe wipes the sweat from his forehead again.
"And I see you were quick to discount that I have any shot in beating you in this match. You couldn't get the job done the first time, but now....now that I have some how awaken you and breathed new life into you, now I don't stand a chance? Wasn't it just 2 weeks ago El Douche Baggo beat you? I know, I know you already swept that under the rug chalking that up as a fluke but as a win is a win as you say, a lose is a lose too. I beat everyone in our block. Vincent, Kharne, Thomason was a no show and you think that I got them by surprise. I snuck up on them. You made my wins over them sound like I somehow got lucky. I some how won those matches simply because all of those guys never saw me coming. If that's the case than what was our first match? Just you wearing blinders never seeing me in the shadows lurking around the place picking my spots?"
Joe smirks.
"Yeah that's what it was X. I'm just the skinny geeky kid in class no one saw. Before this f*cking Cup even started no one....no one gave me a shot at winning 1 match let alone my block. And yeah you heard me right X, I'm winning my block. I "shocked" the world when I made Vincent tap in the first round. I don't know if you noticed or not but the once all mighty and powerful Troy Vincent, has been so so since then. The little aura he had around him is a little bruised lately. Then I went to a draw against you and while I didn't get the win that week, in many guys eyes, that was like a win. X couldn't beat little old Joe Jones. Then I kept Alex Kharne on the road he's on when I pinned him. Suddenly the one guy who no one thought was going to make a impact in the cup.....has done just that. Made a impact. And here we are, at Destiny 7 to finish what I started. To beat the guy no one thinks I can beat. To take down the guy everyone said I have no right in being in the ring with. This match is happening X, not because I'm on some kind of roll, that I got lucky in a couple of matches. This match, this tie breaker match is happening because simply.....you.....couldn't get the job done. The old you, the new you, the improved you, the reawaken you, I don't care what version you what to tell yourself. You Xplode, the man, the myth, the one and only self appointed biggest and baddest to ever step in the UWL, FAILED.....to beat me. You were picked by everyone in the UWL to easily beat me. You were picked to be one of the favorites to win the cup. It was your birth right! The guys in the locker room, the fans, they all picked you. You were the can't miss pick."
Joe smiles
"Then you stepped in the ring with me and something happened. They can talk about everything that lead up to that match. The drama, the chaos. They can talk about all of that all they want. But when that bell rung, everything that happened, the good, the bad, was at that point just a after thought. All of that didn't matter the second that bell was rung. What mattered from the sound of the bell on was how and when Xplode was going to beat Joe Jones.......and for 30 minutes everyone at home watching it on TV, everyone in the back was watching and the moment that everyone was waiting for, never happened. The one sight everyone wanted to see, you on top of me hooking my leg and beating me, just never happened. On that night X, you failed. You wanna know why? Because this happened."
Joe holds up his left wrist that is all tapped up and written on it is "SPOILER ROLE"
"My mind set hasn't changed in this whole Coronation cup tournament. I was going to play the role of spoiler. I was going to ruin as many guys chances at winning this cup as I could. Playing the Spoiler role means more than just beating everyone and keeping them from scoring 2 points off of me. Sometimes playing the spoiler means having the ability to look forward and to be able to set things up to ruin someone's night weeks, months from now. That draw.....that 1 lone point you got, left us tied. And here you are, already dreaming of a Coronation Cup win.......but first you have to get by me. And I'm not going to make that easy Xplode. I will battle you for 30, 40, 50, 60 plus minutes, what ever it takes to make sure that you will have no shot in beating Aries Reed in the semi's. Well that's if I just don't pin you middle of the ring and end your night early. When you're in the......"
Joe holds up his wrist again and shows off what he written on it.
"Spoiler role. There is really never no losing."
