Scene opens up inside of the run down dirty gym that Joe has called his own since he joined the UWL. It's hotter than blazes in side the gym and Joe is all sweaty after a good hard work out. Sporting his ring gear, he's in the ring sitting on the top turnbuckle with a ice cold water bottle in his hand. He has the top in his hand and he flicks the top at a guy who is laying on the mat trying to catch his breath. The unknown guy is no importance. He was just a sparing partner. Joe brushes back his hair after flicking the top at the guy and takes another big gulp of ice water.
"Okay Louie....I said get the F*** out of my ring!" Joe growls at the guy. Apparently his name is Louie and he slowly rolls out of the ring favoring his back and neck. "Go ahead and get your buddy you told me all about. I'll kick his ass tomorrow along with yours."
As Louie hobbles towards the locker room Louie mumbles "What ever dude. Just give me my 50 bucks."
"And that's why you'll never amount to jack shit in this sport. Nanook has your 50 bucks numb nuts."
Joe watches his sparing partner disappear into the locker room and takes another gulp of ice water. He then turns towards the camera.
"Can it! I don't want to hear it! Say your breath! Save what little witty wise ass remarks you have for me. I don't even want to hear I told you so! Hart won. He retained his title and despite what he said I don't have a excuse on why I lost the match. Nothing got in my eye. The Coliseum wasn't cold. I'm not even going to point out that you took the easy path and pinned Parker. No Hart I will simply say this. You won. You're the 4th guy to defend the TV title 4 times and 3 of those defenses weren't walks in the park. You earned that win Saturday night and you earned the right to face Drew for the Heritage title. That's about as close of a compliment you'll get from me. Just be thankful that I gave you that much, I don't normally have anything nice to say about matches I lose."
Joe takes a quick sip of water. He's wearing a frown and looks agitated.
"After a lose like that, a soul crushing defeat I've got to tell you it was hard to get excited about the news that this week I get Mr. Coronation Cup Winner himself Robb Daniels. I poured my heart and soul into that match against Hart and when I got knocked off the apron and Hart knocked Parker out and took the win, a part of me died. I'm not sad. I'm not upset. I heard that bell ring and it was like ten thousand little kids just kicked me in the nuts. In fact even now on Wednesday."
In the back ground you can hear Nanook yell "HUMP! Day!" from the State Farm commercials.
"I don't view this match against Daniels as some kind of reward for the hard work I've put in for the past 4 months against Hart. I don't view this match as taking that next step up in the company. In fact I view it has just the opposite. I see Macklin looking to bury me in the company in this match. Putting me in a match that he thinks, the UWL thinks I can't win. I see that f*cking fan poll bullshit on the web site, Predict the winner and everyone who is voting on that thing isn't giving me a shot. Hmm."
Joe shakes his head with a scowl on his face.
"I bust my ass every week. I bring my best week in and week out in that ring and that's the thanks I get. Robb Daniels might be riding high right now. Riding that crest from the Coronation win. He's in line for a UWL World title shot and he has his sights set in on Justin Brooks. He's looking to cash in on his big win. The UWL is looking to bury me and here I am. 110 f*cking degrees in here and I'm working over some hopeful, a stupid mother F***er who thinks he's going to be the big thing in this sport and I'm hitting the weights more than ever all in a effort to do what no one thinks I can do. Land the upset on Daniels. I hear the whispers. There is no way Joe Jones can beat Daniels and that's fine that you think that. That's fine that you believe that. When Saturday night rolls around and that bell rings and little old Joe Jones scores the win and walks out of the ring after the huge upset........"
Joe cups the water bottle with both hands. He looks down at it for a second before looking back up at the camera.
"I'm sure you're at home or where ever Daniels and you're thinking that I'm crazy. Maybe you're not looking ahead at your match with Brooks. Maybe you're the type of guy who takes one match at a time. To be honest with you I don't know you very well. You could be the stand up guy everyone says you are. I don't know how you feel about this, how you view this match but you better understand this. I've worked hard for everything I have ever accomplished in that ring. Despite what Hart says, every title I won, every match I won. I busted my ass to earn those things. Nothing has never been handed to me. Nothing in the business has been easy for me. I had to claw and scrap and fight for everything I have. You wouldn't believe the bull shit I had to go through just to get in this ring 11 years ago. But I fought through it all. I pushed back and went in head strong and tore down the walls that everyone tried to place in front of me. Saturday night when that bell rings. I'm not some guy standing across from you just happy to there. I'm not a guy who is just punching the clock. I'm bring everything I have. Every hour I spend training, honing my craft, every little dirty trick I've picked up along the way, I'm bring to the ring. I have a hunger that burns inside of me, that drives me to pick up that next win, that next championship. I'm not going to half ass this match because there is nothing on the line. If you think this match is going to a breeze for you then you better prepare yourself now for when I knock you into the middle of next week. I will once again call myself a champion and it WILL happen here in the UWL come hell or high water."
Double J jumps down from the turnbuckle and tosses the water bottle out of the ring.
"The guys I've beat and the matches I won so far in the UWL.....they didn't happen by fluke. Saturday night, The Coronation winner will end up on the losing end. When it does, there will be many who will be surprised, even shocked except for one man, and you're looking at him. Consider yourself warned."
Joe shoves the camera and the scene fades to black.........................................
