Scene opens up with Howdy in a real fancy library standing in front of a book shelve full of old leather bound books. He has the book in one hand and is reading it when he notices the camera. He snaps the book shut and removes his reading glasses.
Howdy "Oh! Why hello there. I didn't see you there. I was just catching up on some classics like this one here...."
Howdy turns the book to read the spine of it.
Howdy "Nancy Drew...okay? Anyways you might have been wondering what has been going on with your hall of fame match commentators the last couple of weeks since we last saw you. Me? I've been working on restoring a old house on the lake with my wife. It's a huge Victorian house. 5 bedrooms and while we have spent a lot of money on this place, it has been fun and rewarding. But not everyone has been ripping down plaster and slats, refinishing cherry hardwood floors and saving crown moldings. My partner on Epic Mayhems Nanook has been busy as well. You see Nanook has tipped his toes into the wonderful world of being a Manager. This is something he has talked about for a real long time but has never tried till now."
Howdy turns and places the book on the book shelve.
Howdy "You see Nanook talked his good buddy Double J into letting him be his manager as they look to moonlight on the side. Nanook found him a gig in Tenneessee and all was going well....for about a week. Both Nanook and Double J found that this new business partnership wasn't working out how either of them would like. After 7 matches in this new company, Double J won only 2 matches! It was starting to be a professional embarrassment. It just wasn't working out and Joe had to make a change to save face in his new work environment. Before the first match in a big tournament, a tournament in which if Joe won he would restore his good name and standing in the sport, Joe made a big change. He fired his long time friend and the only manager he has ever had in his career, Nanook. Nanook was crushed. In fact I was able to get some footage of a grown man crying. What to see if? I knew you would! Enjoy!"
The footage rolls from 3 weeks ago when Double J fired Nanook as his manager.
While Double J is in the ring in what will be a big win over Troy Vincent, Nanook fresh from being fired made his way out the back door of the Roanoke Sports Complex where no one else is at to deal with what just happened. A mere 5 feet out the door, Nanook and all 400 pounds of him is standing with his arms crossed, his right index finger and thumb squeezing the bridge of his nose as he gets choked up. He starts to sob, taking in quick burst of air causing his body to pop up and down as tears begin to flow down his face.
He has been buddies with Joe for 15 plus years. Ever since the IWA when Kim slide his ass into a cow suit and wore a cow bell around his neck and hit the ring as Mesmar the Cowgod, Double J and Nanook have been close friends. It was Joe who talked Nanook into ditching his gimmick as the Cowgod and using something that was closer to home for him. Thus Nanook was born.
Nanook reaches in his pocket and pulls out a handkerchief and wipes away the tears and blow his nose.
"Okay....pull it together. We'll be alright." Nanook says as he tries to calm himself. The door opens as a worker is taking out the trash and Nanook hears Joe's name being annouced as the winner. Nanook closes his eyes and can't believe it. "Maybe he was right after all." Nanook mummbles as he walks off into the darkness of the night.....
Howdy "When I heard that my partner was going to try his hand at being a manager I told him it's harder than it looked! But did he listen to me? NOOOOO!!!!! Why would anyone listen to me? After all I was only the manager of Chamber, and he put me through hell! That was not a easy job but after a while I got it down and I was able to manage one of all time greats in this sport. As we saw Nanook did not take the news well. He even asked Jeffery Hatemonger of all people what he should do next! Let's take a look."
2 weeks ago......
Nanook made his way back to Tenneessee and back to Hatemonger's gym. He told Jeffery what he went down and Jeffery was wondering if he was fired too. He was all worried because he had rent due on the place and if he was fired he wasn't sure if he could afford the rent. While Hatemonger worried about what to do Nanook sat down on a weight bench and crossed his arms, draping them over the weight bar and buried his head into his arms. Hatemonger went on and on about his bills and what he should do if he's fired too and Nanook didn't one word of it.
"Nanook?" Hatemonger asks again snapping Nanook out of his day dream. He lifts his head up and looks at Hatemonger who is standing in front of him.
Nanook "Yeah?"
JH "What are you going to do now?"
Nanook "I don't know..."
JH "Well you are still a manager right?"
Nanook "I guess?"
JH "Well why don't we look at what you did wrong and correct it."
Nanook shakes his head. "Did Hatemonger just say something that made sense?"
JH "Clearly you were doing something that made Joe think you couldn't do the job right. Maybe if we talk to him and tell him you will fix whatever it is, maybe he will rehire you!"
Nanook "Stands up. You know....That sounds like it will work. Jeff. I know I pick on you but that made sense. I will go call Joe right now and set up a meeting."
JH "Really? Cool."
Nanook waddles off to the office and Hatemonger smiles.
JH "If Joe will rehire him, then he will rehire me and I can keep my gym!"
Cut to a wide angle shot of Hatemonger's run down dumpy gym in a old worn out warehouse.
Howdy "Well folks! Did Nanook get that meeting? I guess we will find out next time but be sure to tune in here for all of the ESW action and tune in next Thursday night for Thursday Night Epic Mayhem! I will see you then!"
Fade to black.
