Saturday morning and Green Man is up and about. Joe is up as well as he sits at the kitchen table eating some toast. Green Man walks in and pours a cup of coffee and then starts to make his way to the front door. Joe watches him.
“HEY!” He yells and that stops Green Man. “Where you going?” He asks.
“Outside. Why?” Green Man says.
“Why are you going outside? To cut another promo about Sephiroth?” Joe says.
“Maybe?” Green Man says.
“Man forget that fool. He has nothing to say so why waste your time talking about him. It doesn’t matter what he has to say it just won’t be interesting at all. Just wait for Tuesday and then you can do your talking with your fists. Why don’t we go for a ride instead.” Joe says.
“A ride? I dunno. Rob might show up and...” Green Man says but Joe cuts him off.
“Forget him too. Rob is a big boy and he can be alone. And your race car will still be there tomorrow. Give it a rest.” Joe says.
“Okay. So where do you have in mind on going to?” Green Man asks as he sips his coffee.
“I need to go back to my apartment. I have some things I have to pick up.” Joe says.
“I guess. I’ll warm up the truck then.” Green Man says.
“Okay. I’ll be out in a few.” Joe says as he stands up and leaves the table.
Green Man walks outside and out onto the front porch. It’s a brisk morning day in Vermont. Green Man takes a drink of coffee and then sets the coffee cup on the railing of the porch. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out the keys to his truck. He walks down the steps and to the truck. As he rounds around the truck he looks around. He puts his hand on the door handle to the truck.
“I know I am not suppose to be doing this but I can’t help it. It’s habit that I can’t break.” Green Man says as he opens the truck door. He sits down in the truck and slides the key into the ignition. That annoying buzzer starts to buzz.
“In a few short days.” Green Man says and then pauses and looks around. He doesn’t want to get caught by Joe cutting a promo. “It will Xtreme Warfare. The show that dares to push the envelope on cable TV. And while some guys will never be as good as I will am, there are some guys who wish they could hold a candle to me. The stuff I have done in my time will never be matched by anyone every again. The things I have seen and done are the stories that these new kids hear about.”
Green Man pushes in the clutch pedal and makes turns the engine over and it fires up. Green Man shifts the truck into neutral and releases the clutch pedal. He looks around again.
“I may not have won many titles but You can bet I have headlined more shows and pay per views than Sephiroth have seen. Old wash up wanna be way past their prime wrestler who could break their hip when applying a simple headlock can do that. And the hard bitter truth for many in the XWA is that I will continue headlining shows for some time to come. The fans will still pack the arena’s to see me perform that some new kid who is right out of diapers. Not to mention when I step in the ring and carry out a feud for some time I have the ability to make not only me but the guy I am arguing look good in the end. Shaw, Stallion, Eternity, and Scavenger now have all profited of sorts after facing me. Then their are guys who couldn’t learn what I was teaching them and they failed. The failed and became a forgotten face in the crowd. So time they are as high as the Champion. They soon fade away and become forgotten. Lost faces in a huge crowd of guys trying to be the best. All of them have done the same thing alone the way. Bash old Green Man for being to old, washed up and out dated.”
Green Man thinks he heard something. He looks around quickly but see’s nothing.
“But in the end who is still here? I am that’s who? And why would that be? Because I’m not a gimmick, a storyline or a fly by night wanna be. Pure skill and pure talent is what you are looking at. Warfare. You Sephiroth, you will learn first hand just what I am all about. The learning process has begun and Tuesday school is back in session. And when you lose which you will. Trust me you will You will be ashamed to be the North American Champion who couldn’t beat the old man. I live to make people look like fools. And you will be another on that long list.”
Joe walks out from the cabin. Green Man is surprised but acts cool. He looks away from Joe.
“Tuesday. You will see. Trust me.” Green Man whispers as Joe opens the passenger side door. He climbs inside and shuts the door. Green Man kicks down the truck from the high idle. He closes his door as well.
“Who you talking to? Joe asks.
“On no one. I thought I heard something funny under the truck but it was nothing.” Green Man says.
“Oh okay.” Joe says as Green Man puts the truck into gear and starts to drive away.....
