Green Man puts the title back on the stand. He picks up the glass top and places it back on the stand. Joe stands up and walks out from behind Todd’s desk.
“What are you doing?” Joe asks Green Man as Green Man runs his hand over the top of the glass wiping away some dirt it collected from the floor.
“Putting it back.” Green Man says.
“Why?” Joe says. “Why not take the title?”
Green Man looks at Joe. “What in the world made you think of that? Who do you think I am? A thief? A common criminal? A lowlife scum bag that the XWA likes to hire?”
“What? I just thought you could take the title to use it to gain an edge on your opponents for the pay per view.” Joe says.
“I’m sure the sight of me holding the title will get them all worked up just fine. This title will soon be mine. Therefore I don’t have to steal it. That’s an act for low life scum who can’t win the title fair and square. You know someone like Xain.” Green Man says.
“You mean mister roboto?” Joe says.
“Yeah. The robot lover himself. Man Whore. Come on lets get going.” Green Man says.
They walk to the door. Joe opens it and walks out. As Green man is leaving he pauses and turns around facing the inside of the room. The room smells funny and on a table by the door just happens to be a can of Lysol. Green Man picks it up and shakes the can and sprays the room. He puts the can back down on the table.
“With all the money Todd has you think he would have the carpet cleaned or something. Smells like piss in here.” Green Man says as he shakes his head and slowly shuts the door behind him.
Some time later we find ourselves in Florida. Miami of all places. And on the main strip there is a hotel. Not just a hotel, It’s a hotel casino shopping mall and sporting arena all in one. It’s a grand five star hotel that see’s some of the world’s richest and most powerful men in the world call home on the weekends and also holds some of the biggest boxing events as well as concerts and NCAA Basketball games as well. This hotel has the world famous Gold’s gym in it and will host the Metrix World’s Strongest man competition in the spring time to boot. This hotel is privately owned, No group of investors are needed as it is owned by a single man, and a world renown wrestler at that too. The name of the hotel is Stevens. The owner goes by the name of Chamber. And he would be Green Man’s nephew who raised Chamber has his son when his father died in a car crash when Chamber and his truck load of brothers and sisters were in the early teens. It’s a long story that I don’t wish to get into right now.
It’s early Wednesday morning and Green Man is up and about as Stevens has become his training facility for his big match. Green Man with a coffee in his hand walks into the gym. He pauses at the entrance to the gym. His white work robe is tied in the front and the hood is up over his head and covers half of his eyes. Green Man takes a sip of coffee the drink of champions everywhere. With it being so early in the morning the gym is somewhat empty with the exception of a few who have showed up before Green Man.
Green Man rotates his head around in a circle losing up his shoulders. He places the cup on a chair that is by the door. Green Man walks across the room till he reaches the treadmills. He unties the robe and takes it off. He tosses it on the treadmill next to the one he has selected for his morning jog. Green Man stretches his ham strings out and his lower back for a few minutes before he climbs up on the treadmill. He starts jogging, slowly at first but after he breaks a sweat he picks up the pace. The gym is quite and even more importantly he won’t be bothered by anyone as a result of no one being around. Which is a plus. Green Man’s mind begins to wonder. Thinking about many things, many of them wrestling related. And the one subject at the top of the list is the six pack challenge.
“Hammer and Bright. Xain and Vindicator and then of course Fantomas.” Green Man’s mind begins with. “All six of us in the ring at once battling it all out for a common goal. For the XWA Championship. All of whom with the exception of me are former champions with Vindicator holding the title for the least amount of time. But still a former champion none the least. Fantomas a former champion who beat Cyrus Angel who held the title for a out standing one week. Fantomas went on and held the title for some time with real no competition for the it. He held it during a time in which the only person around to give him a challenge was Xain. And Xain did end up beating Fantomas for the title. Something that came at no surprise. After the love fest Fantomas had with Cyrus Angel it’s no wonder that someone who had an ounce of talent wouldn’t be able to pick off Fantomas. What change does he have in this match? None really. No one even pays attention to him anyways. Then there is Xain, who lost to Vindicator of all people. Yes while Xain was trying to be the big man on Campus by attacking Eternity then disappearing and never really giving him a shot at the title he did very little with the title. Hell by his own admission he didn’t even want the title in the first place. The heartless bastard. Why is he even in the match I haven’t the clue. He is just a waste of all our time for him to be in the ring. And if he thinks being buddies with Hammer and Bright is going to save him he needs to rethink that. Those two will dump him so fast he wouldn’t even knew what hit him. Then there is Vindicator. Enough said. He should join Xain on the outside looking in. That brings me to Hammer. A what four time champion? Who's buddy is Bright who is a three time champion? Doesn’t really matter anyways. Your only as good as you last match and well seeing that I won my last match against a former champion I might add I guess that makes me king shit of the XWA huh?”
Green Man wipes his forehead as beads of sweat form above his brow as he is running at a good clip right now.
“I am the underdog. No one wants to see me win and no one thinks I can win. For some reason the world of the XWA seems to revolve around Hammer and Bright, or at least that’s what they make everyone believe anyways. And I know everyone is saying that I don’t have a chance. I wonder what they are saying after Warfare.”
Green Man smiles as the thought of everyone bitching and moaning and groaning about what he had to say in Todd’s office is sure to stir a few ego’s in the XWA.
“I can hear Hammer now. Bitching and moaning about who I am a loser and had to resort to doing what I did. And of course Bright will be right behind him. Then of course they will say that is the closest I will ever get to that title. And then there their own ego they have to feed too. I can hear it now. “The match should be me and Bright. How you guys into the match is beyond me. We are the only true champions in the XWA, not you wanna be’s.” and they will say that shit all week long.”
The treadmill Green Man is running on is one of those mills in which the front of the tread mill raises up to give you that running up hill work out.
“I feel a head ache coming on. Not only will I have to listen to Hammer and Bright moan and groan, I will be bored to death by Fantomas and Xain as they add their two cents. Then there’s Vindicator.”
Green Man sighs.
“Am I the only one who feels that Vindicator is the six man out?” Green Man thinks to himself. He starts to slow down jogging to a mere walk.
“I can’t wait. This Sunday is the day I show everyone.”
As Green Man steps off the treadmill he hears his name being called from across the room. He looks towards the direction he hears it coming from and long and behold it’s Joe Jones walking into the gym wearing florescent Pink shorts and a white button up shirt that he has tied up in the front.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were going to work out?” Joe says as he walks up to his old man.
“You were sleeping. I didn’t want to disturb you.” Green Man says as he picks up his towel.
“oh.” Joe says as Green Man starts to make his way towards the door. “Where you going?” Joe asks.
“Gunna run on the beach. I’ll see you later.” Green Man says as he starts to run out the door towards the beach. Joe stands there in his pink shorts watching his old man running down to the beach.
“I see.” He says as the scene fades to black..............................
“What are you doing?” Joe asks Green Man as Green Man runs his hand over the top of the glass wiping away some dirt it collected from the floor.
