Alongside an old dirt country road. They seem to have lots of them in Georgia, is Billy’s HellCat. It’s dusty and the rear tires need replacing as they are almost bald. It’s been parked on the shoulder and there is no sign of Billy. Wonder where he could? We’ll have to wait on the answer of that question a while longer as Billy’s agent Nanook walks into the picture.
”Ah thanks for joining me here today Timmy.” Nanook says as he walks up the side of the car and leans up against it.
”No problem. I’ve been looking for work lately.” Timmy says who has had lots of free time on his hands since Joe is MIA.
”You know what I’m going to do for you Timmy.” Nanook says pointing at Timmy. ”I’m going to make you the official cameraman for HillBilly Sutton starting now.”
”Really?”
”Yes and here is why. I need someone to keep an eye on him.”
”A eye on him?”
”I am going to tell him that we are doing a documentary on him and that we need someone with a camera such as yourself to document everything he does in his life. That will explain why you will always be around him.”
”Okay, but why?”
Nanook crosses his arms. ”I’m worried about him Timmy. I’m worried he’s….you know cracking up. I think that boy might have taken a hard hit to the noggin or something but did you see him earlier this week? I know he drinks, who doesn’t in this profession but the other day…..I mean let’s face it. He’s just a pocket watch away from a looney bin.”
“See Timmy, I consider Billy a dear friend of mine. There is something about him that just puts a smile on my face. He is a simple man with a simple way of life. He has money now. His own line of moonshine and now he has a endless excess to his favorite drink and couple that with the money, maybe a concussion or two and this spells a dreadful recipe for disaster. “
Nanook pushes himself off of the car and takes a step forward.
”Maybe I shouldn’t have pushed for that match against Autumn Raven again. I think she was right when she said she could still the crazy behind his eyes and this stuff with Arch Stanton isn’t helping either. I’m not sure what that guy’s deal is with Billy but it’s not helping one bit. He calls me all hours of the day. I haven’t told anyone about this but he will call me, all night long and tell me how he can’t stand this guy or that guy and how now someone walks drives him nuts and tell sme how he wants to hurt them. Right now a lot of his venom is being spit in Evan Caravelle’s way over the whole Haley thing which, between you and me, is weird. I mean not that long ago Cory Chevelle kicked his ass and that did not set well with him but he’s completely fine with Cory right now. Now I haven’t been able to talk to Frank right now because he has his hands full, but I wonder how Cory really feels about this. You know Timmy. This return. This quest of his to pick up a single title, any of them I think is starting to break him. You can see it happening all over again. I really thought last week, Billy was going to be able to pull that one out. It was a lot asking of him to defeat Craig Williams but at some point Billy needs to sh*t or get off the pot. Man. If he won that match. Oh man that would have set up the world for him.”
Nanook shakes his head and crosses his arms and glances down at the dirt road.
”So where is he now?” Timmy asks.
Nanook looks up. ”You ready for this? He texted me and said he’s looking for Duncan Renshaw and that he followed a text message here.” Nanook says and raises one eyebrow.
”He followed a text message here?” sounding unsure.
”He says he can see them floating in the sky.”
”See what? The text messages?”
”Yes.”
It’s like time and space stands still for a minute. Nanook isn’t kidding. He’s not even hinting at breaking out into a laugh. He’s serious. Timmy doesn’t know what to say.
Suddenly there is a rustle in the hedgegrove and sticks are being broken under foot and all sorts of noise. Nanook looks in the direction and Timmy focuses the camera on it. Coming stumbling out of the woods in full camo, head to toe, even has his face all painted up is Billy. He ducks and rolls onto the dirt roll, comes to rest on one knee. He’s staying crouched down and is looking over his shoulder. He then spots Timmy and his camera and sprints towards him and comes to a sliding stop right in the lens of the camera. He holds the camera.
“I found it! I followed it here. I hunted it down. I trapped it. I beat it over it’s head and gutted it and brought it back here to read what that bum Duncan Renshaw sent out via a text. Yeah! I know what is in his mind.”
”What’s that Billy?" Timmy asks.
Billy glances over his shoulder again and looks up as if he watching something. “He’s ducking me. Yeah! He’s afraid! Scared! Ima gunna hurt him! He knows it! He thinks I’ll mistake him for Evan Caravelle who kidnapped Haley! Oh he can deny it, yeah! But I know. I have the proof.”
Billy again glances over his shoulder.
“I seen the texts. I seen the messages. They are flying around in the sky. They haven’t been delivered yet and I can see them. READ them. Yeah! I knows. Arch Stanton…...That old broken down….loudmouth windbag……” Billy pauses and closes his eyes and this look of disgust on his face. He pulls himself back together. “I seen what he said about me. I tell you. Yeah. He’s jealous. Jealous of me. Yeah! I am the south’s favorite son. He’s yesterday’s news. Yeah!”
”Billy….What about Duncan Renshaw?”
“Oh….Yeah! He said. I overtrained my mental eye again. False. I am dangerous. False. I will hurt him. Correct. I am unhinged. False. I am crazy. False. I tell you. Duncan Renshaw. Yeah, two faced. Correct. Yeah. Duncan Renshaw. Will lose. Correct. I tell you. Seeing and reading texts…..has opened the world to me. Mind blow. Yeah. Correct.”
Something catches Billy’s eye. He ducks down and watches the sky like he is tracking a bird or something. He drops down to his belly and is crawling along the dirt road with his eye in the sky. Nanook leans in towards Timmy.
”What do you think? Bathsalts? Shroons? Have you ever seen anything like this? He’s not drunk…..” Nanook looks at Billy crawling along the road. ”I don’t think.”
Billy jumps to his feet, reaches inside his hunting vest, pulls out a revolver and fires six shots in the air. Once he empties the rounds he tosses the gun and runs towards whatever he shot. Nanook looks ghost white. Billy picks up whatever he shot and to us looks to be nothing and sprints back to Timmy.
“LOOK! I GOT ONE!”
”Got what Billy?”
“A unposted tweet! I shot it down while it was heading back to the server. It won’t be posted….look!”
Billy unfolds an imaginary piece of paper in his hand and holds it up.
”What’s that? The tweet?”
“Yeah!”
”I can’t read it…..you shot it up. What does it says?” A quick thinking Timmy asks.
Billy looks at it. He looks into the camera. “At Caleb hater on twitter….yeah! Tweet. Says Caleb is bad for business. Says he is holding down at nascarbilly one. Yeah! Correct. Says he should retire. Quit. Go away. Hashtag Hart Sucks! Oh look! Another little tweat!”
This time Billy jumps up and grabs the tweet out of thin air. Meanwhile Nanook has walked into the background and picked up the gun, made sure it was empty and he is in midst of removing the firing pin from it.
“Oh look at this one Timmy Bo Bob! Dis one from Jobs to Caleb two. Tweets. Caleb should be ashamed of himself. Tyson Turbo real hashtag UWL World Heavyweight Champion. Leave UWL.”
”Boy there seems to be lots of Caleb Hart haters on twitter huh?”
“Just look up and look at of the tweets. Caleb has no idea…..yeah. Tweet tweet little tweet all hating Caleb….yeah.”
”What about Duncan Renshaw Billy?”
Billy looks up and scans the skies. He shakes his head no.
“No. No one tweet. No one text about Duncan. Only him bad mouthing me…..BAD MOUTHING ME!!!!!”
Sudden shift in mood.
”Billy! Billy! Calm down! People say stuff all of the time. Do you see Caleb Hart tweet OneCalebHater?”
Billy shakes his head no.
”Well you have to do that too. Ignore the tweets. The texts. Shut down your mental eye. Can you do that?”
Billy takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. He holds his breath for a second and two and slowly exhales. He opens his eyes and looking right at Timmy.
”Good?”
Billy nods.
”Now…..If there is one thing you could say to Duncan Renshaw. What is it? Just one thing.”
“You hear Slayer’s War Ensemble playing in your mind. I hear Slayer’s War Ensemble playing in my head. You hear Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman shredding it. Blasting your heart, mind and soul their ability to kill it on guitar. What you hear is good. What you hear is solid. What you hear works. But what I hear is the same tune, same notes, only on a banjo. Why a banjo? Because it takes more skill, more years of pratice to kill it on a banjo. I am the future. I am the new song in everyone’s head, I am on their minds, on their heart. Buring a peice of their souls because I have dedicated myself to be just as great as Kerry King, only with a banjo. You can not win. Only failure is in your future. I have seen the tweets not yet tweeted. The text messages from Saturday night not yet texted. I have seen the future and your future is cold and dark. I soak up the glory of the victory. You taste defeat. Correct. For I am HillBilly Sutton!”
Billy steps forward and takes a hold of the camera once again.
“I am the best in Moonshine.
I am the best inside that ring.
I will beat you!
I will beat Arch Stanton.
I will destroy Evan Caravelle.
The south will once again rise again.
And this time we’re pissed off.
And there is nothing you can do to stop this Duncan.
NOTHING!”
Billy shoves the camera away from him.
