Late Saturday night and one HillBilly Sutton is walking down the side of the road heading to the rough part of town, the part that has public housing, cops, druggies, murders, rapists and chop shops. The last three might be a stretch but I’m sure a murder or two might have happened over the year along with a lone sexual assault, It’s America, it’s bound to happen.
Billy is filled with rage and his jeans are dirty and cut up from looking in every nook and cranny Billy thought was a good hiding place for his car. And in his mind it’s just more than a car, a vehicle. A hard to find, can’t buy one at the dealership Hellcat. Dodge stop taking orders this year due to not being able to keep up with the demand. Billy was one of the lucky ones, he got his Hellcat. His all black Hellcat. It’s a car that Billy can’t just replace, the insurance company can’t replace it, they don’t make them anymore. But beyond that that car had sentimental meaning to him. That is what can’t replaced.
"I don’t care how long it takes me….I don’t care how many stones I have to look under….I don’t give a sh*t how many dumpsters I have to jump in….” Billy stops and looks down a alley way. It’s empty.
"I will find my f*cking car! And god help anyone who touches it, god help anyone who removes one nut, one screw from that car.” Billy says as he begins to walk again.
"You know Arch….you……” Billy pauses and tenses up with anger. "That piece of shit 32 of yours, it was begging to get rebuilt. It was pleading to get restored. That little 302, it was tired old man, much like you. The bushing where all dry rotted. It leaned to the drivers side as the springs were beyond broken in carrying your fat ass all over the country side. The tranny slipped. The rear end was howling. The steering was loose and you should be happy I was able to keep that relic off of everything in that parking lot. At first, I swore to god I was wrapping it around a light pole four blocks away at Wal-Marts, that’s how far off the tire rods were off. I did that car a favor. I did you a favor. That car is a like….”
This part might offend some.
"That old 32 of yours Arch was like a old dog. A dog that pisses and shits itself. Can’t hear, can’t see, missing teeth and can’t walk without bumping into everything in the way but the owners are like. “OH! Little fido just needs some loving! He has so much more to give! He just need to see a vet and get some treatment. We can’t put little fido down! Just give him some Blue Buffalo and he’ll be just fine!” NO! You f*cking retard! That mutt needs a 22 placed at the base of it’s skull and someone to pull the trigger! That dog along with that 32 of yours Arch was just begging to get put down! I did you a favor! I did that car a favor! It was a mercy killing! Now you can haul it down to the shop, put it up on the lift and rebuild that old Ford so it’s like new!”
Billy stops and is in front of a parts store.
"Unlike you Arch, that car does have much more to give. It has years, decades of enjoyment to give to the world. Someone will take that car home, love it, wash it, give that car the attention it’s rightfully deserves. Where you Arch! You need to give it up! You need to go away! No one wants to see out of shape old guys stumbling around a ring holding their hips, fifteen knee braces keeping their leg attached leaning on the ropes, gasping, struggling to take a step and no Arch…...a kick to the shins isn’t a drop kick! You have to get both leg off of the mat!”
Billy runs his hand through his hair and starts walking again.
"Unlike you Arch! That car is like me. It’s it’s prime. The future muscle car of the car collecting hobby. A real treasure! Something that will be sought after 50 years from now. Everyone wants a HellCat, so much so Dodge had to stop taking orders. Everyone wants to see Billy Sutton in that ring kicking ass. So much so that demand to see Billy from California to Japan, paid for that car. I put my nose to grindstone, I busted my ass, took my lumps and handed out beatings and won over the fans. Caleb Hart is running around with three titles belts, the king of the UWL, The rock star but it’s the backwood hick from Hickory who outsold Mister UWL at the merch table. I might not have been winning inside the ring as much as Caleb himself but I was mopping him up at the merch tables. I’m still moving product at the table even though I’m not the Southern’s favorite son anymore. I know….I know Arch. T Shirt sales don’t mean anything but it does old timer. It’s a clear indication of who the fans truly want to see. Who they appreciate.”
Billy comes a intersection. Which way to go?
"I know it’s hard for you to process that fact because you don’t see too many Arch Stanton The Last Hard Man shirts at the shows and your merch check is just pennies in a good quarter for you. But just because you have been in the sport for years and years, you disappear and return out of the blue doesn’t mean that we have to kiss your ass Arch. That’s why I didn’t shake your hand Arch. The whole thing that started this in the first place. I didn’t give a crap that you came back. I didn’t give a crap you healed up and ready to throw down in the ring. You are just another guy in that locker room who thinks they are important and means something to the UWL. You are just another face in the crowd at the end of the day, another guy I will have to put down like a half dead dog who needs Depends to get to where I want to get at. This has been a long time coming Arch. I tried to give you hints, go away old man before you get hurt. That pipe upside your head two weeks ago, was the final warning. I tried to knock some sense into ya but your head is as thick as the calluses on your feet and being that hard headed Arch….is going to get you hurt. Hurt badly. I ain’t stopping when that bell ring and the ref declares me the winner. I’m sending you a message and I’m sending you home…..vertically.”
Billy looks to his left and to his right deciding which way to go.
"The longer it takes me to find my car…...the more I will hurt you.”
Billy turns and walks down the street towards the shadows…………………..
