Picking up where we left off……
Billy walks up the little noll keeping his distance from the tall shadowy figure. We can tell Billy knows who ever it is and he’s not too excited to see this person.
“What are you doing here?” Billy says with a undertone of eat shit and die in his voice.
The figure steps towards the fire pit and into the light and reveals his face to be none other than Steve Sinclair whose height should have given him away at seven foot four. The last time we saw him was in Japan last year when he and Billy had a ladder match and Billy managed to hit Steve with a piledriver and thus winning the match. But that was a year ago.
“I’ve come to see how you are Billy. How you are doing and by the looks of it….” Steve says as he holds his hands up to the fire and glances in the direction of his RV. “I’d say not good.”
Billy stands across from him with his hands in his pockets. “I’m doing just fine.”
“You sure about that?” Steve says as he rubs his hands together. “Doesn’t look you are?”
“If you came here to gloat….” Billy begins when Steve cuts him off.
“I’ve still have friends in the UWL you know. People who tell me things. People who keep me informed.” Steve says and looks at Billy who seems to have buried his hands deeper in his pockets of his Wrangler jeans. “They tell me of what is going on behind the scenes. These people tell me that you are could be in shot for the Triple Crown title.”
Slowly grinding his teeth Billy is thinking ”I thought I was done with you….”
“A real shot at the belt. Not some pity token shot but a good honest proper shot and all you have to do is defeat Sunday Night Heat.” Steve says. “The guy who spit on you last month. The guy who thinks you are beneath him. The guy who you know will spit on you if given the chance and will act like he has already won this match and it’s a foregone conclusion that he will be the number one contender.”
Billy doesn’t say a word. He looks down at the small fire.
“Do you remember about a year ago Billy when I told you that I see a untapped side in you, that you were holding yourself back and until you looked inside of you and saw who you can really be you’ll never be nothing but the laughing stock of the UWL. You remember that?” Steve asks. Billy nods. “And do you remember me saying that you have to unleash that dark side of yourself. Show your true colors.”
Billy glances up at Steve.
“I see that bitch dumped you. I know you might be devastated but in all honesty Billy. That was a blessing. A gift from the gods.” Steve says as he cups his hands behind him. “It’s time Billy. Time to let it out, let it go. To rise up and take control of everything in your life. Show Autumn Raven just who is the boss. Spit on Sunday Night Heat and smack Craig Williams around like he hasn’t ever been smacked around. Stop trying to be liked. Who cares if you sell t shirts and if they cheer you. It’s time to look out for yourself and only yourself.”
“And why should I listen to you. I’m doing just fine without. I got that match at Only the Strong Survive on my own….” Billy says.
“You only got that match because you vowed to kill the son of a bitch after he spit on you but that leach, Jessica pulled you away from that anger. She calmed you down and made you soft. The PWC, they are dangling that carrot in front of you. That match against Heat was going to happen regardless, they just made it worth your wild. And why do you think they are dangling that carrot in front of you Billy?”
“Pish. You don’t know nothing. I’m in the number one contender’s match because I earned it…”
“By losing to Josh Eagles?” Steve is quick to come back with. “By getting spit on by a rich little bitch? No Billy. They made that match because they liked what they saw from you post match at the Supercard. They saw a fire. Desire.”
“Yeah?” Billy says as he is having a mental war with himself believing what Steve is saying or not.
“It’s now or never Billy. With my help I can draw yourself out of yourself if that makes any sense. With my help, you will stand a legit shot at winning that match against Heat and going on to face Craig Williams. This won’t be like the last time Billy. No bullsh*t this time.”
Billy crosses his arms. “I don’t trust you.” he says and he has every right in saying that.
Steve stand motionless. “You shouldn’t.” he says.
Billy takes a couple of steps up to the giant and looks at his chest and then up at his face. Steve tilts his head down at Billy. “You remember that match in Japan?” Billy asks. Steve nods. “When I drove you into the concrete floor in that pile driver…..I really wished I broke your f*cking neck that night.”
Steve leans over a bit to get closer in Billy’s face. “Next time.” he says. “Don’t wish. Make it happen.” Steve says and smirks. He turns and starts to walk away and Billy grits his teeth. “Come on Billy. We have to get going. Press conference tomorrow in Stockton.” Steve says.
Stockton California at the Sponos Arena, where the UWL tomorrow night will hold The Road to Only the Strong Survive in front of what is being reported a sold out crowd. Inside the arena on the floor where the ring has been built and the rest of the show is slowly being put together for Saturday night. The UWL has made itself available for the media, both print and online who cover the UWL as it makes his way around the country. Today is a real treat as HillBilly Sutton will be taking questions from the media about his match against Autumn Raven and the announcement about the rematch against Sunday Night Heat. The media group isn’t very large, 6-7 guys but the reach they have online is huge. As they wait for Billy to emerge from the back they are chatting with one another.
That is till Steve Sinclair, aka Chamber steps out through the tunnel leading to the floor. At seven foot four you can’t miss him. No one has seem him since Japan last year, one year and one month to be exact. As he makes his way down to the little podium that was brought in for the “press conference” the media do what the media does. Take pictures. Chamber steps behind the podium and he towers over it. He sets a water bottle down on it and looks at the small group that has gathered there today.
“As you can tell I am not HillBilly Sutton.” Steve begins and it draws a chuckle or two. “Bill won’t be out here today. Bill Sutton doesn’t care that you are here to do your job. He doesn’t care that the UWL has asked him here today to basically promote tomorrow night’s show. He can careless if you get hits and downloads and shares on social media. All of that garbage isn’t of his concern. But what is. Is the UWL Triple Crown. As you know the UWL in a press conference that drew more members of the media than this one so that leads me to wonder just how serious you guys take Bill Sutton to begin with, In that press conference, it was announced that Bill Sutton, the UWL Shiner. The south’s favorite son, will face Sunday Night Heat at Only the Strong Survive and the winner of this match will go on to face Craig Williams for the UWL Triple Crown.”
Chamber cusps his hands behind him as he looks at everyone there, all 6-7 of them.
“As if Bill Sutton didn’t need any more motivation after being disrespected by Sunday Night Heat last month at Access Denied, the fact that Bill will block Sunday Night Heat from attaining what he truly wants in life, a shot at the Triple Crown, a shot that was handed to him at the end of 2015 on a silver platter and he failed to take advantage of that golden parachute, To take that away from him, to not only knock him out in a couple of weeks but to add insult to injury….well that is something that Bill Sutton will take great pleasure in handing to Heat. Unlike Sunday Night Heat who can’t win the big match, much like a quarterback who has hard time winning the big game this Sunday in the super bowl. Bill Sutton has built his career on digging and crawling for everything he has accomplished in his career. Sutton isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. To get bloody. Sutton will take your best shot, stand up, look you in the eye and knock you down. You can stand there and snicker for all I care. You can question the outcomes of some of his matches and not every match you have in your career is about wins and losses. Sutton has never claimed to be a Josh Eagles. He has never wanted to be a Caleb Hart where winning is the be all end all of their career. Wins do not define him.”
Chamber pauses and tilts his head up, level for him. Being as tall as he is, he has a habit of always looking down on everyone.
“But the bruises he leaves behind. The broken bones, concussions and careers he ended such as the one of Arch Stanton as the beating that Sutton inflicted on him was too much for the old grizzly vet to handle and he called it a day, called it a career…..that! Is the legacy that Sutton is building. That is the story they will write about him, that they will tell when they talk about Sutton. Do yourself a favor. Document every moment from here on out. Take a step back and witness the story of Sutton. The man who will take the Triple Crown from Craig Williams. The man that tomorrow night in this building, in this ring behind me...will end Autumn Raven.”
Chamber slides his hands along the side of the podium and leans down on it. He glares at each and every single person there.
“As I speak. Sutton is waiting. Waiting for his time. For the time to get his hands on Autumn Raven and break her, to make her an example of what awaits Sunday Night Heat at Only the Strong Survive. Sutton will make Heat regret the day he spit on him. This isn’t about redemption. This isn’t a match of revenge. This will be a display of what will happen to you when you get in Sutton’s way. Plain and simple. Autumn Raven, after tomorrow night will no longer speak ill of Sutton. Her days of this air of entitlement that she seems to think she has earned, this bubble that she lives in, will come to an abrupt end. Let me make this as clear as I can for you. So simple to understand that even Autumn Raven will understand this and have no doubts in her mind what is going to happen tomorrow night.”
Chamber taps his index finger in center of the podium.
“The beating of her life is coming tomorrow night. Autumn Raven will never…..be the same after Sutton gets done with her. She will be a changed woman after this match, and not for the better either. She can smirk and have that smug look on her face all she wants, she won’t have that look on her face when Sutton is done pounding her into the mat. She will be lucky to smile at all. I promise you this.”
Chamber stands straight up and cusps his hands behind him.
“If you think I’m joking….if you don’t like the words I have just spoken.”
Chamber shrugs.
“Sucks to be you then.”
Chamber picks up his bottle of water and starts to make his way towards the back…..
Fade out….
