The more the things change, the more they stay the same. Nanook is gone. Why Nanook did what Nanook did is a mystery. He had Billy who was is just right there on the edge of everything. On the edge of the TV title, on the edge of the tag titles, and just on the edge of the Triple Crown, Billy could and can go in any direction. One of the more versatile stars of the UWL if you think about it. He can go where they need him all he needed was someone like his agent to give the UWL a nudge in whichever direction they want him to go in, except that nudge never came from Nanook for him. Billy can stand in front of a camera and scream and yell about wanting the Prestige title, the tag belts, the Triple Crown all he wants but you need someone in your corner fighting for you too. Wrestling is part politics you know.
Instead Nanook focused his time and energy on his other side project, a midget named James Kelloggs. It wasn’t that Billy was miffed that Nanook was hired on to represent someone else, it’s just that other guy, was getting all of the results. It was time to move on, time for Billy to break away from Nanook. You have to from time to time but to then hire Steve Sinclair…..well that wasn’t expected. Who would have seen that you know? But so far, the results have been more than what Billy have hoped for….
Backstage at the Gersten Pavilion, Sutton is sitting in front of his locker, his elbows on his knees and his long stringy hair covering his face. Steve Sinclair steps into the frame of the picture with his hands in his pockets and sporting a smug look.
Steve “Tick tock Timmy. That clock has officially started. You threw out that challenge and Sutton here, he picked to have a table ladders and chair match. I tried to talk him out of it, I tired to talk him into a steel cage match to keep your lap dog Caravelle out of the match because I too have the same feeling that Gary Young has. I want to keep any and all outside influences out of this match with everything that is on the line in this match. A shot at the Triple Crown at Honor and Glory where Sutton here….as been more than patient in waiting for his shot at those belts. For the first time in his career, his UWL career, Sutton will get a fair shake at that belt because every other time he an opportunity it was always in some sort of bullsh*t Universal Rumble, gauntlet, spin the bottle, luck of the draw type of match with him and about 14 other people, and like I said earlier Tim. You already had your shot.”
Sutton slowly looks up at the camera.
Steve “You know earlier Timmy, when you stood out there and said, Sutton pick the stipulation of the match we will have next week, Pick your poison I saw the sick twisted smirk on his face! I saw the fire in his eyes, the ice flowing in his veins and it took him all of 2 seconds to pick his poison Tim. He looked up at me, smoke trickling out of his lungs, holding back the fireball that is sitting in the back of his throat and he grin and said. Steve! You tell that stupid son of a bitch to fill that ring next week with tables, ladders and chair because I’m going to stack them up, stack them up real high and drag his sorry ass to the top of that pile, tuck his head between my knees, lift him up and piledrive his ass right through every single table, ladder and chair in that pile! You go out there Steve! Sutton said to me as he stood up and got right in my face, I can feel his blood coming to a boil on my face, and he looked straight in the eye and Sutton said to me that he will make you regret the day you spit on him! And you know something Tim….”
Steve slides his arms out of his pocket and crossed his arms.
Steve “I believe him. When Sutton said he wants to snap your neck….I believe him. When Sutton said he wants to end your career. I believe him. When Sutton said that he will break you. I believe him. You can act like this is a waste of time, a waste of space on the card Tim. Ham it up all you want. Lower your standards and wear Faded Glory and a wife beater if it will help you play the role. Make your own Shine if you must and act like this is all a big joke to you but I have seen guys just like you come and go. I’ve seen them talk the talk and act all high and mighty until they get the sh*t kicked out of them. You’re just like them Tim. Nothing special. Sutton here….yeah he’s all american. He’s a down home kind of guy, straight from the farm to the ring wearing his sh*t kickers and all. He like his music loud, his liquor illegal and the women half naked and loose playing in the mud. The people, they can connect to that because hell, the only thing that separates the fans from Sutton here, is the ring ropes. That is why they support him, that is why when he knocks you the f*ck out and picks up the win, he will have the respects of the fans, it will be the cheers of those fans, the same people who can’t stand you, you think you’re fake….a guy in with a pretty smile putting on a act, that are going to point and laugh at you when this hillbilly, beats you. Maybe you haven’t heard this before Tim.”
Steve slides his hands back in his pockets.
Steve “If you spent more time in the country than the city then you would know to never really piss off a old country boy. You might knock them down, kick some dirt on them, but boy when they get up, when you make them mad. All hell is about to break loose. Let me put it to you this way Tim. I’m sure as a kid you grew up watching wrestling, we all did hence why we’re all wrestlers. I’m sure you view Sutton here to be nothing more than…..no pun intended HillBilly Jim. Just a big ol country boy in overalls who want to stomp his feet, do the square dance and have a grand old time. Pretty harmless right? Hillbilly Jim? What in the world did he ever do? Not much but Hillbilly Jim was just like you Tim. He was just playing the bit. Acting like a big ol country boy. You’re the UWL version of Hillbilly Jim. except you’d like to play yourself off to be The Million Dollar Man. In reality Sutton here is more like Stone Cold Steve Austin. A pissed off country boy mad as hell and he is going to tell you how upset he is with his fists by implanting them in your face. You can think this match is nothing more than a rematch but it’s more than that. It’s about 2 things.”
“Being disrespected by guy who couldn’t cut it to make One Direction and it’s all about that Triple Crown Championship, nothing more than that. Not the Super 6. Not about getting his due. Not about being overlooked in the past because that is what it is, in the past. If you’re not here in the UWL for that Triple Crown Championship than you better stop and ask yourself, why am I here? For a year Sutton here and clawed and fought to get where he is, a shot at being the number one contender. You of all people should know how that feels, since you were already once the number one contender to the Triple Crown...you know Sutton.”
Steve glances down at Sutton.
Steve “He’s been the number one contender so many times now that it might come as a shock to him that someone else will hold that title.”
Sutton gives a ever slight nod of the head. “That would be about the only thing he’s ever accomplished in the UWL. The guy who lost to the guy who now holds the Triple Crown, and the same guy I’ll be seeing at Honor and Glory, Craig Williams.”
Steve “I couldn’t agree with you more Sutton.”
Fade out.
