Knoxville Tennessee…..
Just west of the city……
Is a old warehouse in an old industrial park….
That is where we find Sutton today.
His RV is parked outside and inside the plain looking steel building is among other things is a wrestling ring. It is tucked towards the far corner of the building near all of the electrical boxes and before it scattered about in no rhyme or reason is a bunch of free weights, weight machines and a couple of different cardio machines, steppers, bikes, treadmills, etc. None of the equipment looks new and most of it looks beat up. On the other side of the building is two vehicles that are covered up and the covers have a good layer of dust on them. Scattered about are tools, engines, transmissions, air hoses, tires. It’s was at one time a well used garage but those days are a long time ago.
In the ring is Sutton who is sitting on the top turnbuckle and sipping on some water. Walking up to him is his training partner for the day. A slim but fit looking gentlemen in his late 30’s.
“Alright Billy boy. That was a good workout but I’ve got to get going. Kenny told me not to be late for dinner so.”
“Alright Joe. See you tomorrow?” Sutton asks as the two of them shake hands. Joe, his old tag team partner and former 2 time BLPW World Champion Double J Joe Jones nods.
“Oh yeah. You know it. Tell Lilly I said Hi for me and I promise to have a girls night out with her soon.” Joe says as he flips a towel over his shoulder and steps out of the old worn out and beat up ring. As Joe walks away we catch a glimpse of the ring apron and it is faded and has seen better days but it is green with what appears to be some mountains on it and “Vermont Championship Wrestling” on it which is the promotion that Joe ran with his dad some time ago in, you guessed it Vermont.
Sutton takes one last sip of water and screws the top on the now empty bottle and crumbles up the cheap Great Value drinking water bottle.
“The biggest lie ever told in wrassling history was said the other day. A couple of them actually.” Sutton begins with.
“That this lucky son of a bitch who….who, the only reason that he has a shot at the Horizon title at next week’s Holiday Fear is because two other knuckle heads who had no business at ringside saved his sorry ass from being pinned and yes Danny, you were going to get pinned because if you roll back the tape, you will see that I had just knocked you out till you were saved…..said that he…..Danny Hawkins, the man bitch who walks in his old ladies shadow, said he was in MY head.”
Sutton chuckles a little bit. He smirks and looks down at the old beat up mat of the ring.
“Oh….on what fucking planet do you even can consider that you are in my head? What head games have you played to make me doubt myself. What illusions have you casted to make me think for even one second that you have the upper hand in this match? The only thing you said prior to our match, a match I was winning, was that I was the shitstain of the NAW. You said said that Danny. Not I. All I did was proceed in beating on you. Stomping on you and hitting you with the Sutton Stunner. I had that match…..if anyone deserves to be cross, it’s me! You just lucked out and Edrick took pity on you and threw you a bone. And the best part of all of this is you’re too stupid to realize what just happened!”
Sutton cracks his knuckles
“You see Danny boy, last week I had to beat your ass while working within the rule book. I pummeled you without using a chair. Without blatantly choking you. Without being able to tie you up in the ropes, and use what ever isn’t bolted down in the arena to stab you with. At Holiday Fear….I can beat you within an inch of your life with anything I can get my hands on and Danny boy that is a fight you just do not want to get into with me because I’m not afraid to hurt you. I’m not afraid to make you bleed. I’m not afraid and I will hurt you. Straight up….I will break you.”
Sutton looks up at the rafters of the warehouse he calls his man cave.
“What was it you said? I know what I’m doing?”
Sutton laughs.
“No you don’t. You don’t have a clue. You could play the game Clue and still not have a clue. You could go on Jeopardy and they could give you all of the answers before hand and you still wouldn’t have a clue. Alex Trebek can read you the question and the answer and you would still stand there dumbfounded. If you knew what you were doing you would know not to pick a fight, an actual fight with a full blooded redneck. A good old country boy because with no rules to constrict me…..”
Sutton nods.
“I’m walking out with the Horizon title and not even god is going to help you. You see Danny it doesn’t matter who I faced this week at Holiday Fear. You, Savage, Jeckel, or all three of you at once. None of you are going to stop me from walking out with that strap slung over my shoulder. Like I have been saying for weeks. The only damn reason I came to the NAW wasn’t to make friends. It wasn’t to hit on none of your old ladies. I didn’t come here to earn your respect and I didn’t come here to earn a stop in no stupid hall of fame. I came here to win gold. To collect belts. I’m going to step in that ring, rough up every Danny Hawkins wanna be that the NAW has to offer, take your title belts and nail them to wall of my RV. I’m then going to stand back, crack open a can of Sam’s Choice Mountain Lightning and admire my handy work, then tear off Lilly Mae’s panties and take my girl to pound town and don’t be surprised if her panties end up hanging from the one corner of that gold plate. You see Danny, my girl doesn’t have to be on a magazine cover for me to love her. I love every inch of her, I love her curves and I lap up her lap like a dog cleans a plate. She loves me for who I am and I love her like no one else in my life. She’s a dirty girl and that is just fine in my book. Hell I even suck on her toes. Can you say that Danny?”
Sutton slides off the top turnbuckle.
“I bet if I cornered you old lady in the back and asked her if she’s ever had her toes sucked on she would blush and say “Stop” cuz I know she knows she hasn’t. Going on keeping her some mantle of yours and frame every cover she has been on and hang it on the wall of that house of yours cuz that is all you’re going to have display, a bunch of pics of your wife because what you won’t have is that NAW Horizon championship.”
Sutton slowly walks across the ring and lean on the top rope looking down on the camera.
“Cuz that belt…”
Points at himself with his thumb.
“Is mine….”
Fade out.
