IWA office’s on a sunny for once Friday afternoon. The little press room that they have is packed to the hilt, as word leaked out that a announcement will be made today about Chamber and his future in the IWA. Many wondered what the announcement would be. Some said, like it was in stone, that Chamber is done, retiring, that’s it. Someone has finally taken out the big guy. Some said no way, maybe he’s taking a few months off to heal up but would return at the pay per view in some kind of non wrestling role. And then, there is some who just didn’t know what was going on but just happy to be getting paid by the hour.
Soon, the waiting was over. Chamber and a few unknown IWA officials made their way out from the back. The reporters take pictures, some hoist their cameras on their shoulders as Chamber walks up to podium.
Chamber takes the mic, clears his throat. His one bandaged hand rests on the podium.
“Like to thank you all for coming out today. As many of you know, Sunday, I got injured. Probably the most serious in my 11 year career now, I have taken many falls, many bruises and some minor injuries. But I do have to say in all honestly, this one takes the cake. My doctors have advised me to step away from the ring for 3 months. And they had their reasons. Any hits or falls to my burn area's would be painful, could even crack the healing scabs resulting in scars. I could even start bleeding in the ring and that would lead to blood lose, and could put me at risk in the ring. I’ve thought it all over, weighted it, the pro’s and con’s. I sat down and thought long and hard for a good 2 minutes and said, “Fuck it.””
The room is dead silent, you can hear the pens scribbling everything down, the tape records recording, the hum of the TV camera doing their jobs.
“I returned for one thing, The IWA Championship title. And on the 15th, the IWA will be holding it first pay per view in seven months or so. And damn if I won’t be there, and damn if it isn’t me in the ring fighting Wilburman for that title, my title. I’m on a one way street and there is no turning back. Fuck Scorpion for what he did, and he isn’t stopping me. NO tall goofy motherfucker who didn’t prove shit in the ring last Sunday is going to slow me down. And one day, I will find that guy, and I will finish what he started. I wasn’t called the Master for nothing, and he will find out just what that means. But enough about that untalented kid who has lady lucky riding on his back. I’m here to state, that this Sunday, I will be back in the ring!”
Everyone in the room is stunned. And a few of them talk among themselves.
“A few weeks ago, my old buddy Braun popped up and said, If I wanted the gold, I would have to go through him first. But since then, he has done nothing. Not one word from the guy. So I talked to him, just last night. We talked for a bit, and the match came up that we had for, at that time the World title. This morning, I was thinking about that again. And now, for the real reason why I called the press conference. Braun, and I know your listening. Last night, ya said you never got your rematch, well old buddy, Sunday is your lucky day! Burned leg and all, I’ll be there. Waiting for you. And if you want to settle this, just walk on down that ramp and I’ll be there. Because, after all.......I do need a warm up match.”
A few “doh’s” are heard in the crowd.
“Thanks for your time.” Chamber says and leaves as the reporters scramble to get the late breaking news out and about......................................................
