After his match Thursday night Sutton with his girl Lillie Mae, they make their way into the back and in the area just behind the curtain is Becky Chande who walks up to Sutton who has his arm around his girl.
“Sutton? Do you have a second.”
Sutton doesn’t answer Becky. She takes that as a yes.
“You just had your debut match here in the Lion’s Road…”
“Shouldn’t it be on the Lion’s Road?” Lilly Mae asks.
“It could? It does sound better now that I think about it. So Sutton. You faced a old foe just now.”
“And killed him in short order so not a damn thing changed there.” Sutton says.
“Cuz that is what my man does Becky, he beats em up, leave em in middle of the ring.” Lilly chimes in with.
“How does it feel to start your Lion’s Road career with a dominating outing?”
Sutton shrugs. “I’ve been doing dat since November Becky. I’ve been stepping in that ring since I’ve been clean and sober thanks to this little lady right here.”
Quick squeeze.
“Looking at that dude standing across from me, who thinks he can take me, who thinks he’s got this match and 5 five minutes later, I’m leaving em layin’ on der backs looking up at the lights. Tonight was no difference.”
“Now I understand you take your sobriety serious.”
“I’ve done the drink every day and try to wrestle, you know what I won when I did that? Nothing. I hit that ring sober. I pick up title belts.”
“Next week you face Baz who loves to drink.”
“And?”
“I was thinking that might be a challenge for you this week knowing your past with the drink.”
“Is that so?”
Becky was going to follow that up when Lillie Mae inserts herself.
“Listen here bitch! I don’t know what you’re gettin at! But my man right here is strong. He fought the bottle and won, the bottle doesn’t control him, it doesn’t call his name, he stomped that bottle into the ground and has never looked back. You weren’t around but drunk Billy was a mess, as I imagine this Baz is. He couldn’t string together two wins let alone go 5 months undefeated and he faced some of the biggest names down south and Billy here,”
Lilly looks up at Billy lovingly and then looks back at Becky.
“And he planted them all of em on their backs.”
“Next week, this Baz and nice try on painting him as my kryptonite, he’ll end up just like Kris Slade did here tonight, beaten down wishing he was dead. Baz can sober up, he can get tanked up and he can even stop and take shots during the damn match, it doesn’t matter. He is just a guy that this place has placed in front of me and I’m going to drive my fist through his face, bust em off at the knee and slam him through that mat! I’m only here for one thing and one thing only and that is championship belts and I’m not going to stop beaten’ up whoever is in my way of getting my hands of those belts. I’ll pick off all of em one by one, tonight it was that bum Slade and next week it’ll be Baz and that guy better have a good buzz going cuz it’ll mask the pain he’s about to feeling when I get done with him. In fact Becky…”
Sutton showcases Lillie Mae’s shirt, her tight fitting shirt which reads Redneck Remedy Moonshine, Billy’s line of Shine he started up 2 years ago.
“Tell Baz I’ll send em a case of the best tasting Shine on god’s green earth. Tell em no hard feelings for what I’m about to do to him.”
Billy and Lillie kiss and move along.
“Thanks Sutton.” Becky says as the scene fades out.
