The scene open up with the gentle rocking you to sleep sound of a clock’s tick tock. It’s just that this clock is a grandfather’s clock. The pendulum swings back and forth making that tick tocking sound. It’s a old clock, made back in the 1800’s, all hand made back in those days. The oak with cherry inlay cabinet gives the gears and inner workings a deep rich tone, something you can’t get with something made from DMF. The clock is in Double J’s hotel room and sitting on the other side of the room is Double J himself. Both of his titles rest on the coffee table in front of him.
“Have you ever ponder the question, What would Jesus do?”
Joe starts to speak, intensely looking at both of his titles.
“What would Jesus do in this situation? Here I am with two titles and I’m putting one of them on the line in a double titles, triple threat match. In theory I could lose my Untied States title without ever being pinned. Something I’m sure that underachiever Shane Diamond will do just to screw me, lay down to Vertigo. I could not win the North American title too and I could on paper and in some people’s mind walk out of this pay per view with only one title around my waist and while some people like, I dunno, Shane Diamond would sign for that right now to me, It’s not good enough. In my heart and in my soul I want to win both the titles. I want to stand on the second turnbuckle and hoist three championship titles in the air and glance over my shoulder and see a whole locker room of guys grow green in envy. Can you imagine the mere thought of one guy holding two single titles and the tag team titles?”
In the background is the constant tick tock of the clock.
“Would Jesus sell his soul for that immortality? Being the only guy ever have achieved such a feat?”
Joe closes his eyes as he ponders this million dollar questions and if Scott Boras says Matsuzaka is worth more than 100 million than they man who hold three titles at once must be worth at least a million bucks.
“All eyes would be on you. The bull eye on your back would overshadow the World champion. When you walked down the sidewalk people would go there goes the multi champion. A household name, a double daily trivial question on Jeopardy. The fortune, the fame, the money and endorsement deals you would have. Anything you wanted you could have. Anything and anyone that is. Plus, in the locker room there would be no doubt who the toughest son of a bitch is. You would set yourself apart from everyone else, you would be a star, elite. And nothing could take that away.”
“Vertigo…despite what you think this match is more than just a match to me. It’s more than a title defense match. This match is what legends are made of. This match will take one of us from “Yeah he was okay.” to “That guy was a flicking god!” Little kids will be looking up to who ever pulls this off, all wanting to be just like them. I don’t care what happened in our last match, what was on the line in our last meeting is nothing compared to what is on the line here and I fully intend to do whatever it takes to walk out of Vendetta the North American and Untied States champion. Something like this only comes around once in a life time and I’m not about to let someone like you ruin it for me.”
Joe slowly looks up at the camera.
“While your trying to get your women off you case Vert, I’ve been training, I’ve been watching tape and my focus is on this match and nothing else but this match. I don’t have someone on my mind looking to take half of what I’ve got. I’m not preoccupied. I’m on a mission and no one is going to get in my way, Not even Shane Diamond.”
Double J picks up the BLPW United States title.
“I know the answer to the questions, What would Jesus do and Yes I would sell my soul to walk out of Vendetta with both title around my waist. I’d sell my soul, your soul, your soon to be ex wife’s soul. The question is would you?”
