You win some and you lose some, that is just a fact and lately Double J has been winning more than he has lost so you could say he was due to lose one. Much like the Colts, they’ll lose one before the season is out. But what separates the boys from the men is how one rebounds from a loss and for Double J, he has to rebound to defend his title against Vertigo and Shane Diamond in a double title, triple threat match. For Double J that’s like facing the Patriots in the super bowl, it gets no better than this.
We find Double J atop of the Empire State building in the early morning. BLPW’s double champion isn’t dressed up like one who holds two titles at the same time should be dressed up, in a suit and a top hat, instead he’s dressed in sweat pants, grey sweat pants and a Amphetamine Army hoodie. He doesn’t even have his titles with him. He’s in NYC (duh) and he’s out for a nice morning jog and while he was out running around pretending to be Rocky he took a break and found himself on the top floor of the Empire State building overlooking the city that is starting to stir.
“Look at this site. You can see just about the whole city from here. It’s been years since I’ve been up here. It’s a nice view but the one from the Twin towers were better but. From up here you can feel like you’re on top of the world. I could lean over this window and throw my arms out and scream “I’m on top of the world!” and capture a real sweet Titanic moment for you fine folks at home but I won’t. This is how I feel every time I step in that ring in the BLPW. I’m at the top of my game. It has taken me a long time to get where I am and it has been well worth it. Tag Team title, United States champion. When I walk down that isle everyone in the stands, everyone in the back, my opponent know they will have a fight on their hands. They know here comes the hottest star in the BLPW! They are about to go toe to toe with a athlete who has been on fire and very rarely loses a match I’m in. No longer am I viewed as a has been, a joke a old timer trying to capture what is left of his fame. When you see Double J walking down that isle……it’s game time.
2006 has been a great year for me. There hasn’t been many people who can say they beat me inside the ring. Look at Lobo last week, he needed help form my old man of all people to beat me! The all mighty Lobo couldn’t beat me one on one! If Lobo couldn’t do it on his own how in the hell do you except Vertigo to beat me? How the hell do you except Shane Diamond to beat me!”
Double J strokes his goatee he’s been growing over the last couple of weeks.
“It’ll take a act of GOD if you think for one second I’m not walking out Vendetta without my United States title or the North American title or even both. I can’t help but view this match as two guys are fucking happy that I’m in the match because it wasn’t for me no one wouldn’t would be talking about this match. Shane Diamond is just lucky to be in this match. I mean who is Shane Diamond anyways? What has Shane Diamond ever done in the BLPW? He’s been here for what seems like forever and he can’t even say he has had the pleasure of being a champion? Talk about throwing a dog a bone.”
Joe pauses for a second or two.
“I’m sure the booking committee thought it might be good for Diamond’s ego to add him to the match. Or maybe Shane Diamond polished some knobs to get this shot, went crawling to JC begging and pleading. You know Shane, I don’t care if you feel like you earned this shot at my title or not but you don’t belong in this match. Woo you beat Panik, wow, blow me over. Panik. The only thing you’re going to do is get in the way of the beating I’m going to hand Vertigo. Talk about a guy who has to learn the hard way. I beat this guy and he’s still crying foul. How many times do I have to slap on the figure four and make you tap Vertigo before you get the hint? You couldn’t beat me three years and you can’t beat me now. It’s a good thing that when I take your title, it’ll be a upgrade for me. One step closer to the BLPW World title. A step I’m afraid you’ll never achieve.”
Double J flips his hood up on his hoodie and starts to run in place to warm up.
“When I walk out of Vendetta as a triple champion, I will have done what no one else in the BLPW have ever done and that is hold every single title the BLPW has. United States, North America and World title. Not to bad for some has been, a washed up bum. When it happens it’ll be a great day to be me.
Consider your self warned!”
Joe turns and starts to job back to the stairs and wait for Vendetta.
