With the ESW slowly rolling along and strapped for cash thanks to his uncle, Double J picked up the phone when the CWA called and he jumped at the chance to jump on board. Last month didn't go so well. Joe wasn't ready for Simon, physically or mentally and he put forth a poor showing. When the CWA called about Death by Dawn, Joe wanted to redeem himself and give the loyal CWA fans a true showing of his talents. The icing on the cake is that his match is against the one and only Scavenger.
The thought of facing Scavenger got Joe thinking back to the good old days of the XWA and BLPW. It also got him thinking about the one place where his career started, Philadelphia. Joe's good buddy Nanook bought the old BLPW arena years ago and transformed it into the Nook. Nanook ran his place for years holding ESW shows, arena football, WNBA games, Monster truck shows and so many concerts he lost count of how many there were. But the time has come for Nanook to sell off his beloved Nook. He was given a offer to buy him out so they could tear down the Nook and build something newer, shiner and bigger. Before Nanook finishes cleaning out the stuff inside for demo, Joe swung by and made his way into the basement where one of the old BLPW rings was set up in a corner of the basement. It's covered in dust, the ropes sag due to not being tightened up and the turnbuckles are rusted up. As Joe walk up the steps onto the apron he sees the logo on the mat in the center of the ring.
"I've been in....I dunno how many matches over the years. To be honest it feels like just a week ago I was in the XWA trying to manage my old man to the XWA World title. If you were around in those days, you know how that all went down. Green Man never did get that World title he always wanted, maybe even deserved. The BLPW was good to me. The ESW so far has been good to me despite recent legal problems. I don't have much history in the CWA, I'll admit that. But the few times I have stepped in a CWA ring, it has been good to me. They treated me right, were honest with me and never did screw me over. I couldn't be happier with my time here in the CWA and I was soooo happy when I learned I would be facing Scavenger at Dead by Dawn."
Joe ducks between the top and second rope, the dust of the top rope falling on his back. Joe walks up to the old faded BLPW logo on the mat.
"It might be one too many chair shots or something but I can't recall a time that I faced Scavanger in the ring before. I sure it has happened. Tag match maybe? If it has I just don't remember. Like a lot of things that happened just a decade ago I just don't remember it all. "
Joe crosses his arms and thinks for a second like suddenly he'll recall a match he had with or against Scavenger.
"Like right now I'm pissed at Shawn Sanders, and I don't really know why? Fuck we were the last BLPW Tag Team Champions, still are but for the life of me I don't know why I just think that guy is a flaming dick when someone mentions his name. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, remembering the names and faces from the places I've been. Scavenger was always one hell of a competitor. He fought you hard, he talked the talk and walked the walk. Everyone secretly respected him. There was a time when he was the man to beat in this sport. He still just might be. I don't know what Scavenger has been up to in the last, 3 years. Or all I know he had a match just last week."
Joe shrugs as he looks up.
"All I know I can't wait to face him at Death by Dawn. I've gotten healthy. I've gotten stronger. I don't have any ill will towards Scavenger. I can't say a single bad word about you. I'll be there and I'll be ready. I'm going to show the world why they call me a legend. Let's show the kids who don't know us very well why we can tear this shit and light it on fire. Scavenger, It'll be a honor to square off against you and may the best man win."
FTB.
